I spend the rest of the afternoon avoiding Caleb and his brother as I help Lilah with Thea.

"You're doing well, Cass... with everything that's happened." Lilah nudges me after putting Thea to sleep.

I nod in thanks and take a deep breath, glancing out the window as I realise that I haven't been outside in a very long time.

"I think I'll go to school tomorrow." I state.

"Are you sure? You can take all the time you need, you know." Lilah raises her dark brows in surprise.

"I need to distract myself." I nod.

And that's what I did, the next morning I woke up a little late and got my school bag ready; once again, putting a cap over my head and shrugging a hoody on before heading down the stairs.

Letting out a sigh of relief when I avoid bumping into Caleb, I head towards the front door only to be pulled back.

"Where do you think you're going?" Micah frowns at me.

"School?" I squeak, suddenly intimidated by his height.

"Caleb has already gone, I'll give you a ride." He yanks his keys from the hook and I stiffen.

"Oh no, you don't have to Alpha-"

"It's Micah and yes, I have to care for my pack."

He pushes me out the door as he throws a hoodie over his head, making him look younger than his twenty-four years of age, and walks towards his convertible. Trying not to comment on the inconspicuousness of his car, I hop in quickly as he starts the car up.

"Thanks." I say as Micah stops the car outside the entrance.

He nods at me and drives off as soon as I step out

I let out a big sigh when I realised that I had missed Maths class and now had Chemistry, and then I mentally kick myself for not thanking Caleb for the hand warmer when I had the chance.

Mrs Coalman is going to kill me for, one being late and two, walking in whilst she is talking. I could hear her talking about presentations as I walked towards the door. Had Caleb presented the work we started on his own or brought Charlotte along with him?

I shake my head at the thought, open the door and walk in to find everybody's eyes on me - rare.

There is a couple seconds of silence before Mrs Coalman does the extraordinary, taking me aback; she smiles... well, sort of.

"It's good to have you back Cassandra. Take a seat anywhere." She nods.

I raise my brows, surprised by her leniency. Soon enough, I realised why; Charlotte was Caleb's new lab partner. They both smile brightly at me and I smile back.

~Be glad, no more attention on us~ my wolf mentally nudges me.

Seeing the bright side of it, I take my original seat on my own at the back, doing my best to ignore the stares before Mrs Coalman catches the class' attention.

...

"Cass, will you sit with us at lunch today?" Charlotte surprises me when class is over.

I was getting ready to rush off alone in the library but obviously that was not going to happen now.

"Yeah, we've missed you." Caleb interjects.

I'm inclined to say no but their imposing height and dual cheery attitude, making them perfect for each other, makes me mumble a yes.

"Have you tested out the hand warmers yet?" Caleb asks me as we walk to the cafeteria.
