The silence that follows almost makes me want to back down from my threat but I knew it would probably be the only way to stop Dmitri.
Dmitri steps closer to me and brings his hand up to grab my wrist but I skip back on a glare.
"You don't believe me?" I snap.
"Cass, you don't have to do this." I hear Micah behind me.
"Yes I do." I call back, never breaking the stare down between Dmitri and I.
My mate regards me for a while, his jaw clenching as the hands slowly clench into fists.
"You've gotten brave." He murmurs.
Ignoring my racing heart and my wolf constantly nudging me to run into our mate's arms, I shrug my shoulders.
"I'll go with you, if we leave peacefully." I say, bringing the knife down.
Murmurs resonate behind me and I silently apologise to the Lycans who sounded less than happy to be hearing that I wanted to leave.
"Whatever you say." Dmitri brings his arm out as if reaching for me.
Letting out a long sigh, I turn to the Uncharted Pack and find Clark heading straight for me.
"Be careful, Cass." He squeezes me in a tight hug before letting go.
Alex, Kellie, Hunter and many other Lycans follow suit by squeezing the life out of me before Micah lastly shuffles towards me.
"I don't want you to go but you don't belong to me." He gives me a small smile, reaching up to brush the stray tear that had sprung from my eyes.
"I'm sorry-" I whisper, choking back the tears and not giving a damn for a moment that my mate was right behind me.
"I'm sorry, I'm not yours."
Micah crushes me to him and I bury my face into his chest, wrapping my arms around him and committing every part of him to memory before letting go.
"Promise you and Clark will come visit." I sniff, looking up at his sad golden eyes.
He nods once before tucking my hair behind my ear and kissing my forehead.
Stepping back until I feel Dmitri's hand on the small of my back, I give my temporary home a small wave before turning my back on them and walking back into the real world.
Logan and the other Blood Moon Weres walk silently behind us and we slip between the trees and walk across for a long while before we reached a lone road.
Three shiny black cars stand out from the silent road as we head towards it, Dmitri saying nothing as he opens the passenger door for me; the other Weres get into the remaining two cars, leaving me alone with Dmitri and making my palms sweat.
"You can get rid of the knife." Dmitri starts when he gets into the driver's seat.
"No, I'm fine this way." I shrug, clutching the knife in my hand.
Dmitri growls, leans over and my wrist with one hand, ignoring my attempts to get him off me as he pushes me against the car seat and yanks the knife from my grasp.
"Don't defy me."
I'm surprised when his voice comes out with a sigh and he leans his forehead against my shoulder.
"I've missed you like a man starving for oxygen, Cassandra. As much as I'd like to be mad at you for leaving, my wolf is telling me to take you right here, right now." Dmitri rushes, his voice slightly muffled from having his face at my neck.
