Chapter 4

I found myself driving all the way to Bradford. I pulled up in front of my mum's house and looked at the dashboard. My goodness it was 5am in the morning already! I checked my glove compartment, luckily I kept a spare key inside.

I quietly unlocked the door and climbed up the stairs to my childhood bedroom, now my little getaway. I snuggled in my bed and my mind drifted off to the last time I was in this bed, Perrie was here.

I couldn't understand what went wrong in our relationship, I knew my busy schedule had a part to play but I thought that something like that, we could have made it work.

I woke up to the sound of plates and forks clattering, and then the voices of my sisters squabbling. Home sweet home, I smiled to myself as I got out of bed.

"Stop arguing girls! I think Zayn should be home already from America, lets call him later!" My mum suggested. A smile crept on my face, I couldn't wait to see the surprised look on their faces.

I slowly but loudly made my way down the stairs. "Good morning mum." I mumbled as I ruffled through my hair and gave them a sleepy look, pretending that it was any normal day two years ago, before I joined the X factor and before my life took for such a crazy turn.

My mum and sisters' eyes widened with shock and their jaws dropped. I stood at the kitchen doorway and acted all confused "what's with all of your expression?" It really did feel good to revert to my old life, just for a moment.

"Pinch me mum." Doniya said, never taking her eyes of me.

"Girls, am I dreaming?" My mum asked with her head tilted at me. She was definitely taken by surprise.

"Oh so now I'm not welcomed home?" I joked.

"Zayn! You're back!" A little squeakly voice squealed as I felt a thin pair of hands wrapped around my legs.

"Hey Safaa! How have you been?" I carried her and kissed her on her cheek.

"I missed you so much!" She placed her hands around my neck and I gave her a little squeeze.

My mum and sisters got off their seats to give me a hug each and welcomed me home. I decided I was going to enjoy time off with my family and take my mind off Perrie for the moment.

"How long are you staying Zayn?" My mum asked.

"About a couple of days."

"Where's Perrie? You said you'll bring her home to meet me when you're back."

"Ah she's busy." I avoided the topic.

"So how was your time in America? Did you enjoy yourself?"

"It was awesome, I bought stuff for y'all, it's in the car."

"Aw cool!" My sister Waliyha exclaimed.

After breakfast all of us sat in the living room and had a long chat to catch up with each others life. My sisters were young girls, growing fast. I left for a few months and they're all grown up. It kinda hurt knowing that their life still goes on without me, they're growing up without me in their lives.

I went the my car to get my luggage and their presents, when I spotted that I had multiple missed calls, all from Jade. I fought the urge to call back and shut off my phone, throwing it in my glove compartment. That's where I'll leave Perrie for the next few days, she didn't need me anyways.
