Ezra's POV
All wasn't well aboard the Ghost.
"How am I supposed to fight the Empire if we spend all our time cleaning and hiding?" I complained.
"Like you didn't spend all of your time hiding when you lived on the streets," Zeb growled.
"At least I got to decide what I wanted to do whenever I wanted!" I shot back.
"Bet that was real nice, starving whenever you wanted," Zeb said in return.
"The nice part was that I didn't have to share my room with smelly Lasats."
"The ghosts of your dead parents were great company, weren't they?"
"About as good as the dead ghosts of all of the other Lasats."
"This conversation has gone on long enough!" Kanan interjected as Zeb looked like he was about to strangle me.
"Yes o wise master," I grumbled.
"Don't disrespect your teacher," Kanan said.
"Especially when we all know he's so much better than you," Zeb added.
"I don't need a teacher! I have a lightsaber. I taught myself for years before I met all of you guys!" I retorted.
"Ezra-" Kanan said in a warning voice.
"I don't need you guys any more! I'll just go back to life before I met you!" I shouted while storming off of the Ghost and into the grassy fields of Lothal. None of the crew followed me.
I ran across the grassy field to my old home, the abandoned tower. I knew I would be back on the Ghost by tonight. The rest of the rebels knew that too. I would never abandon them. Today was just a bad day.
I took the old lift up to my room. My Stormtrooper helmet collection was still there, although it had gotten a bit more dusty. I tossed my lightsaber on my cot and walked over to the balcony. I sighed as I started at the rippling grass.
A hand grabbed my shoulder as a glowing red lightsaber appeared in front of my face. My eyes widened in horror and surprise.
"Fancy meeting you here," the Inquisitor said.
"I thought I smelled something bad," I told him.
"Let's keep this civilized. Where are your rebel friends? Tell me, and I won't hurt you," the Inquisitor promised.
"They're in Palpatine's Palace," I snapped.
"Just tell me. Make this easy on yourself," the Inquisitor pressed.
"Go eat a lightsaber," I growled. The Inquisitor yanked me away from the balcony and marched me to the lift, where four stormtroopers were waiting. From there we went to the ground floor, where a transport ship was waiting.
"Search for the rebels," the Inquisitor commanded a stormtrooper. "They're bound to be around here somewhere."
I was taken into the ship and placed in a small room. They left me alone after taking my energy slingshot and anything else I could use as a weapon. There weren't any vents I could escape through, and a red Ray shield blocked my only escape. The annoying part was that I could see out of the ray shield and into the hallway beyond. So close, yet so far.
I didn't even have a tiny window to look out of as we took off and left Lothal.
--- some time later ---
I was leaning against the wall with my eyes closed when I heard footsteps. I kept my eyes closed.
"Your friends will be here to join you soon enough," the Inquisitor asked.
"Sorry, not in the mood to talk right now. Rain check?" I suggested. I was picked up into the air and thrown back onto the ground. I groaned and opened my eyes, glaring at the Inquisitor.
"It's a shame your master never taught you manners," the Inquisitor said. I kept my mouth shut this time.
"We'll be transporting you to our special remote facility. Hopefully your rebel friends will be joining you soon."
An imperial officer hurried up to the Inquisitor.
"Sir, status report on Operation 66. A force user has been captured. Appears to have received no training and limited knowledge on force use. What are your orders?" the officer asked. A force user? Operation 66?
"Wonderful. Have them sent to our facility on Mustafar," the Inquisitor commanded. The officer saluted and hurried away as the Inquisitor turned back to me.
"Seems like you'll have a friend when we get there. Enjoy them while you can. Neither of you will last long," the Inquisitor growled.
