Mood: Sad Song by We The Kings

Louis stared at Richard with wide eyes.

A beard? Of course he knew what a beard was. But what did that have to do with anything they were talking about at the moment?

He nodded and Richard's smile widened.

"Well that's lovely. I won't have to explain. So here's the deal. You wanna be with Harry?" He asks and Louis nods feverishly. Richard hums.

"I have a way that you can be with him and get some money in your pocket." Louis knew this was bad. But he did need money. Him and Eleanor are two months late on their rent and the landlord has given them by the end of January to pay back three months work of rent.

"How?" Louis finds himself asking.

"It's simple, really. You can go out publicly with Harry whenever you choose to but you have to have a 'girlfriend.' And who better than your best friend who just so happens to be a girl?" He says, smiling coyly. Eleanor gasps.

"You want me to be his beard?" She asks. Richard only nods.

"Every time you two make a public appearance, wherever you go, I'll pay you. We can start with a thousand pounds for the first outing." Louis chokes on his spit.

A thousand pounds?

With that kind of money, Louis and Eleanor can pay off the rent and still have money to spare. This honestly didn't sound so bad. Him and Eleanor were already close enough, a few kisses would be fine with him. So why was Harry so tense beside him?

"Is that all?" Louis asks, his voice only a whisper.

"Not quite. Another thing is that you have to delete all of your social media that has any affiliation to Harry." That meant his Twitter and Instagram and Tumblr. Everything that he worked so hard for. He had made them when he was only a teenager, finding comfort in the small amount of followers he had gotten from them.

Eleanor sighed, she was upset too. They had joint accounts after all. They both cared about their social media. It seemed foolish to other people but it was something they loved.

Harry noticed their trepidation and squeezed Louis' waist softly. It's quiet for a moment. Richard becomes impatient.

"I don't have all day. Please, hurry up and make your decision. Have to break up with Harry and keep your stupid fan accounts and struggle to pay rent every month or stay with Harry and have money to spend on whatever your heart desires." When he put it like that, the choice seemed clear.

"Um, can we uh have a moment to talk, please?" Louis asks. Richard waves them off, concentrating on his laptop once again.

Louis pulls Harry and Eleanor out of the room and into the hallway.

"I don't want you to do this." Harry says once the door clicks shut behind them.

"Why? It seems fine to me. Yeah, deleting my fan accounts is something I wished I never had to do but...I think we have to grow up sometime? Eleanor and I need the money. If we don't pay the landlord by the end of January she's kicking us out." Louis says sadly.

"I can pay your rent. You don't have to worry about--"

"I don't want to do that to you. I'm 21 for Christ's sake, I should be able to pay my own bills." Harry sighs, defeated.

"Eleanor?" The taller lad asks, looking at the brunette for help. She bites her bottom lip.

"I-I don't know. I think we should do this. I'm just thinking of Alice. I don't know what to tell her." Harry sulks at her response. He turns back to Louis.

"This...this takes something from you. It rips a hole in your chest because you feel chained, Lou, I don't want that to happen to you." He says, taking Louis' dainty hand in his, squeezing it tightly.

"I've been dating girls for over four years. It was just to keep my image. I used to wake up in the middle of the night if it was even worth it. I didn't like having to lie. It physically hurt. I don't want you going through that." Louis loved him, he really did. But he had to do this. He loved him enough to go out with Eleanor and pretend that she's his girlfriend. He loved him enough to delete his fan accounts that he's had for years. He loved him.

He looks to Eleanor.

"I-I think...we need this Eleanor. This is our break. Maybe if we get enough money we can even move out of the flat. Get a real home." Louis says and Eleanor knows he's right. He's always goddamn right. She takes his free hand and a grimace etches its way onto her lips.

"Okay." She says and Louis nods, his lips tight. Harry frowns because God he really doesn't want Louis to do this. But there's no changing his mind.

They walk back into the office. Richard looks up and smiles when he sees Harry's defeated expression.

"What's your answer?" He asks sounding bored.

"I uh--we um...our answer is yes." Richard smirks before standing up.

"Thank you for your time. I have a contract that I had printed up so please, take a seat while I go and get the papers." He says leaving the office. Harry slumps against the wall, biting his bottom lip.

"I'm sorry, H. Please understand." Louis murmurs to Harry, running his fingers against his arm.

"I understand. I just--fuck Lou--I don't want you guys to suffer like I did. Like I do." He says, tears shining in his green eyes.

Louis sighs. He feels like a asshole but Eleanor and him need this. This is their chonce to stop eating takeout frozen foods and be happy.

Richard comes back in a matter of minutes, a pile of papers in his hands. He places them on his desk, pulling out two pens.

Within the next minutes Louis and Eleanor sign where they're supposed to and then they're ushered out of the office with the stern words that they have to delete their social media.

Once they're outside, it finally sinks in. He feels as if he's made a deal with the devil. Maybe he has.
