I knelt beside Cleopatra and Arisone on the cold marble floor of the throne room.
"We swear loyalty to thee, Rightful Queens Bernice and Trypheana. Blessed by Ra, true Rulers of Egypt. We renounce all others who claim the throne." We chanted.
"Thank you. You have chosen very well to come to the true side of Egypt. Together we will take down Aulutes and bring Ma'at back to Egypt." Bernice and Trypheana said as if rehearsed.
I felt a rush of heat to my face and felt my food rush up into my throat.
"No, not now!" I thought angrily.
I puked on the rug. At the feet of two Queens who are looking for any reason to have me thrown in prison, or worse, executed.
Bernice scoffed and started laughing manically.
"You did that on purpose didn't you, you little wench?" Bernice shouted.
"N-N-No" I stuttered wiping my mouth.
"I puke on the enemies of the Queens" I said lowering my eyes.
"Hmph" Bernice said waving the guards away.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
"I will kill any enemies of my Queens" Cleopatra began.
"I will protect my Queens with my life" arred Arisone.
"And I will not stand for injustice-" began Aisonë before she was interrupted by bursting into tears.
"And I will make sure justice has been brought to Egypt!" Arisone said passionately.
"Thank you. Leave us now." Bernice said coldly.
With one final bow to the Queens, we scampered off to the gardens.
"Wow Arisone" Cleopatra said.
Arisone laughed. "I learned from the best" she said looking at me.
"My father wrote back. He said not to worry about him and to protect each other." Cleopatra began.
"And my father says to reassure you of his love." Cleopatra said to me.
I nodded and a sudden warmth flooded into my heart, everything would work out, but how long would it take? It could take either a few years or a decade...or longer.
Cleopatra took my hands in hers, "Ife, your body has been acting very strange lately. Tell me, when was your last cycle?" She questioned.
"I...I'm not sure. Three months ago?" I replied, quizzically unsure as to why she was asking me this.
Then it dawned on me. "Oh Isis, help me." I muttered.
Cleopatra put her hands on my stomach, "You are blessed with my father's seed in your belly. Perhaps you will deliver a boy who will be the fiercest warrior in Egypt, or a girl who will practice magic in the name of Isis. Whoever it is, or how many it is, they will be blessed." She whispered.
"Now, go on and rest, it is late" Cleopatra added.
I walked back to my chambers and told Badra and Neva about what would happen. I too felt happy but sad as well, what if the Queens found out and once I gave birth they would kill the baby?
These dark thoughts felt deep into my mind and I didn't know how long I could keep them there before I would burst from all the stress.
