A/N: I know in the original story Alice's mother is dead and her father married another woman, but in this story, Alice still has her mother :) I wrote this without doing any research in the beginning... But the rest of the story is as it should be. Enjoy !!xx
PROLOGUE
Masked faces were staring me. I let a whimper escape my lips, I was afraid yet I was unable to comprehend what was happening. One of the masked faces snapped his rubber gloves over his hands, removing a needle from his case. I stared into the eyes of my loved ones; they turned away, they were unable to look at me.
Fear evaded me, unable to control my surroundings. I knew this day would come, the day when my family disowned me - refused to claim me as family. I was a stranger to them, a masked demon.
Two masked faces came from both sides, grabbing my wrists, and holding them behind my back. I couldn’t move, yet somehow I found my voice and a shriek left my lips. Mother had her face pressed into father’s chest, and I could hear Cynthia sobbing in the other room. It was time for me to leave them behind; I had forced my curse upon them for too long. It was selfish of me to expect them to accept that, to accept me. I was an outcast, a stranger in the eyes of my mother.
“Mother…?” I asked not louder than a whisper. She turned her back on me, sobbing loudly into father's chest.
“Father…?” I asked, hoping he would remember me, before all of this happened.
“Take her away!” he ordered.
The masked man approached once again, needle pointed straight up in one hand, squirting the last bubbles of air from the serine - the other hand ready to defend, to grasp a hold of me before I could attack. I closed my eyes in resignation; I knew there was no way I was winning this fight. Who was I but a mere little girl? Who was I but the freak, the laughing stock since I could remember? They thought me a crazy person, a mental case. I knew what I saw, though no one else saw it.
I kept replaying the day Aunt Lucy died in my head, I had warned them and they had ignored me. Mother had said that I was sick - sick to the end of depths. Father hadn’t taken a look at me twice in these past few months. The hallucinations - as they called them - had gotten worse. They didn’t realize the extent of it though, I would hide it when I could manage, but too often I would slip and mother would look at me in disgust.
The masked man had my arm in his hand, and as I struggled to get free, the other two grabbed me tighter and before I knew it, it was too dark to see.
