CHAPTER 10
I had no idea how long I’d been running. It could’ve been days, weeks – months for all I knew. But I didn’t care. The only thing I cared about was finding the man of my dreams – the man of my visions to be precise. I felt like I already knew him.
Jasper Whitlock was his name.
I had no need to stop running and have a rest. The more I ran, the more energized I felt. I didn’t know whether that was normal or not – I couldn’t remember being anything other than what I was now.
I was a vampire, or so I was told. I had run into several nomads such as myself in my search for Jasper Whitlock. They had informed me about laws, which I didn’t quite understand.
The Volturi was supposedly a very powerful family – royalty in our world. I was frightened by the stories they had told me, and so I started hunting not as much. I knew I had to find Jasper Whitlock. He needed me just as much as I needed him. And he was looking for me – subconsciously.
The scent of human blood flooded my nostrils as I stopped in the middle of the road. I had no clue as to where I was, but I knew I had to feed. Venom pooled in my mouth as the luscious scent burned my throat. It was tempting, though I knew I couldn’t stop. I had grown to feel remorse whenever I killed.
A family of yellow eyes was the cause of my remorse.
They called themselves ‘The Cullens’.
The leader was a doctor, of all things. He went by the name of Doctor Carlisle Cullen. In my visions, I could see that he was the only one who had mastered the art of self control. He was a gentle soul, caring even.
He had a wife too, Esme Cullen. She was beautiful, and her eyes portrayed kindness and sincerity. She was the motherly kind, always caring for the three other yellow eyes that she cared for as her own flesh and blood.
Edward Cullen, the mind reader. I could see he and I would have fun. I idly wondered how his mind reading ability compared to my premonitions, and if a challenge arose, who would win. Of course, I couldn’t see that – yet. He had to make the decision. He was the silent type, a loner if such people exist. But he seemed eager to master his self control – he looked up to Carlisle Cullen.
Rosalie was the beautiful one. She was breathtaking, and I couldn’t help but feel awed at her beauty. It had to be a gift. No one could be that perfect – not even a vampire. She was the snooty type, and I wondered whether our personalities would clash. But I loved her as a sister already.
Emmett Cullen was the mate of Rosalie. He was gigantic, and cuddly, though a prankster too. He was the newest of the Cullens, though he was eager to make the best of his fate. Actually, he seemed more delighted than anyone else to be a vampire. Strength – that was his reasoning.
