Everlost with a spin

Chapter 2

Sade looked around her vision efficiency cut in half from the hood that covered her eyes. Only exposing her nose down on her face. Sade tries to pull the hood off but it won't budge.

"Reagan my hood won't come off." Sade says trying to take the cord out in between her teeth without success.

"Yeah it won't work out for me either." Reagan says trying to pull her ear buds out.

What they didn't know was someone was watching them. He stepped out from the dead spot he was laying on behind the bushes and walked over to them.

"It won't come off. The way you came into Everlost is the way you stay." He says sighing.

Sade looked at him in shock and in awe. Bruises, cuts, and burns littered over his body and his clothes were singed and covered in smudges and debris. His hair was clouded with soot. Sade assumed he died in a fire or maybe a fight and he looked around 15.

"I'm stuck looking like a creepypasta and doing one of my worst habits. This is starting off so great." Sade says with sarcasm.

"Well at least your not stuck like this." He says trying to wipe off dust that will never come off.

"Wait, what's an Everlost?" Reagan asks.

Sade continues to look at him using the hood blocking her eyes as an advantage. Is it wrong to think he's attractive yet annoying?
"Everlost is where people like me wind up when they don't make it to the light at the end of the tunnel." He sighs.

"So we're dead?!" Reagan and me shout looking at the slight green glow coming off of us.

"Well I guess technically you'd say we're between life or death." He says.

"Sounds like death to me." Reagan says.

"So how do we get out of here?" Sade asks starting to feel angry.

"There is no way out of Everlost." He says with an unreadable expression on his face.

"There's a way out of everything! So what do you mean there is no way out of Everlost?!" Sade says copying his voice that wavered between octaves.

"Now your making fun of my voice?! I was just giving you facts!" He shouts at Sade.

"Enough. What's your name?" Reagan asks obviously irritated but trying to stay calm.

He thinks deeply and shrugs his shoulders before answering the question. "I don't remember my name."

"We should give you one, like Ash!" Sade shouts happily.

Reagan sighs knowing where she got that idea but not bringing it up.

"Ash? I like it." Ash says running his hand through his hair but it still staying the same way.

"So.... Ash you wanna come with us on our odyssey." Sade says going to walk on the street but having her foot sink in. Sade pulls her foot out in confusion then an odd happiness.

"Its like walking through pudding. Man I wish I had some pudding." Sade says thinking about food.

"Always hungry, stop thinking about food!" Reagan shouts pulling her back away from the road.

"Sorry but it was weird almost like I was sinking." Sade says confused.

"Welcome to lesson number one. We can't walk on the fleshies land, if we do, we sink. Also we have no need to eat or sleep." Ash says with a small smile.

"No eating? No eating equals no food. Food is a part of my equation of life. How am I gonna live." Sade says her eyes looking at Ash from under the hood.

"Well technically we are dead, so get over it." Reagan says still not excepting the fact herself.

"Fleshies though? That's what you call humans?" Sade questions.

Ash nods his head then says "I'll go on your little journey but I'm gonna take you to The Queen of Snots."

"The Queen of Snots? Sure I guess as long as my friend and I learn about this place." Reagan says wondering about Sade's health and sanity.

"This doesn't make logical sense. Its proof that there's an in between but how do things cross over to Everlost. Why is the living world so, so dull?" Sade questions showing her deep thinker side.

"There essence was preserved enough when it died or was destroyed it crossed over and for the dull thing I don't know." Ash says not used to speaking so much.

"Well let's start our trek to the Queen of Snots." Sade says smiling.

"Remember to keep in motion or you'll sink." Ash says.

"What happens when you sink. Do you go down far? Can you climb back up?" Reagan asks.

"I don't know?" Ash says obviously lying.

Sade and Reagan decided not to question for now and imagined the trek ahead of them.
