Mary was standing in front of her desk, her face turned towards the window. She had a great view of not just most of the Afterlights taken under her wing, like a protective mother bird, but her children as she likes to say were doing there usual activities.
She also had a great view of the living world. Though it was duller than Everlost the two worlds merged together. The living walked through her children constantly while also unnoticing the ghosties surrounding them. It was just something that couldn't be resisted, being unseen to the the living world.
The young violinist, Vari, was away from her office letting her get a sigh of relief from the classical music. She didn't hate it at all, in fact, she loved it but it got tiring after awhile. It wasn't all that surprising when Vari ran into her office.
"Ms. Mary, Sade and Reagan are heading to your office." Vari said standing there obediently.
"Let them come Vari and go do something productive. I can handle this." I offered him a small smile putting an assuring hand on his shoulder.
Vari smiled brightly and nodded obviously wanting to but deciding to follow her directions. He bumped right into Sade as the two walked to her office. He smirked slightly like a little brat.
Sade didn't bother to feed into it. Before she died she was about to go to high school. It's normal to be bumped into all the time. She glanced at Reagan smiling slightly.
"You're little crush is being mean to me." Sade joked biting on her earbud cord.
Reagan rolled her eyes and sighed, "That's all he'll ever be too." She attempted to hide her ears with her hair but it didn't it just fell back exactly how it was.
Sade then noticed it and she couldn't help but to touch one of her ears. Her ears were always pointy like an elven but holy crap. She's literally growing Zelda ears now. She stopped in her tracks stopping Reagan with her.
"I love the new look but why are your ears looking more, you know, like Zelda?" Sade asks playing with Reagan's ears happily.
Reagan gave Sade a look. "It's your fault. I'm starting to forget things. It's hard to even remember my first name."
"What do you mean my fault?!" Sade yelled unintentionally but it oddly sounded like a roar.
Reagan slapped her arm, "Not so loud!" She scolded, "I remember all the nicknames but not my name, I remember that I'm taller than a lot of people but I can't remember how tall I am. I'm even starting to forget my favorite book author. I just know that this dumb song will play till the end of the universe!"
"I can't remember what happened in September. When everything is gone, when it's dark and I'm alone-" Sade started singing until her eyes met Reagan's narrowed eyes.
Sade let a nervous chuckle slip but not for long. She coughed covering herself before walking into Mary's office holding in her laughter at Reagan's irked expression. She wasn't sure why but it was hard to take her irritation seriously when she had Zelda ears.
Reagan walked in and stood beside Sade rolling her eyes. She then looked at Mary.
"Mary my friend would like to talk with you about something we both agreed on." She stated seriously but her awkward and shy nature skewed the message behind it.
Sade inwardly sighed but also thanked her friend. Reagan's nature made their image a lot less rough in her opinion.
"Lovely queen of snots I think you can explain this better than anyone. I mean you've been here a while and not to mention you watch over all of us." Sade slowly lead into the topic, "Mary everyone is well stuck, if you get what I'm saying." She said trying to avoid being blunt despite the situation.
"Stuck? What do you mean by stuck?" Mary asks with a confused expression though she knew what she meant.
She looked at the teenager in front of her aggravated, "Look you may be a year older than me but I'm not stupid. Everyone is stuck in a damn loop like the music in our headphones."
Reagan nodded in agreement with Sade, "Yeah why not explain that to us?"
Mary looked at the two warily. She could see how they both influenced each other. She sighed quietly before looking at the two.
"Well everyone here are doing what they're meant to do, like a routine. It's meant to keep them forever entertained." Mary said smiling softly.
"You can't just trap kids in an eternal loop!" Sade yelled at her.
"It's not a trap if they decide to do that activity." Mary said looking at her calmly.
Sade glared at her and snarled fangs growing from her mouth this time. She nodded and left not wanting to have this debate any longer.
Reagan sighed silently and left not bothering to say bye. They were obviously gonna make it out of here one way or another.
