I woke up early this morning. I needed to run. I slept horrible. I kept thinking of what happened three years ago and where it has led me. I hauled my self out of bed and threw on my running shorts, a tank that had USMC printed on the front, and my sneakers. I thought about waking Ryan up as I walked by his room but bettter of it. I have a lot of confusion in my head and heart so I will run alone. With that thought, I stop by the front closet to find my 9mm. I tucked it in to my shorts and carefully shut the door so I didn't wake anyone.

I ran around the block but it felt weird. I like running in the woods. I looked across the street and it was like the woods were calling me so I jogged over to them. I stayed on a path I found and jogged. It seemed like hours but was probably only a few minutes.

Lost in my thoughts, I hear a noise in the bushes ahead of me. Little animals trying to wake up, i am sure. I keep on the same track when I hear more noise. I am not sure what is it but it is weird. I'm not scared, just spooked. The animals normally run off when they hear someone. i turn around when I hear something breath. Yeah, I am going insane being home. I can't hear anything breath but myself. With that lst thought I turn for home. I have a feeling something is watching me though.

Me not being one to back down from anything I stop running. I know there is something here. I can feel it. I see something off to the right of a tree just a few feet away from me, but because it is so early I don't have a lot of light yet.

"Hey, is someone there?" Yeah, Jules talk to the woodland creatures. You are going nuts!

I see a nose poke out behind the tree. That nose is the same height as mine... well that is not scary at all. Please note the sarcasm here.

Instead, of talking to an animal I decide let's walk over to it. Because that makes all the more sense. I am a dumby and I will die here in the US and not in Iraq. Go figure, I thought for sure it would be the other way around.

As I near the tree, a little more of the animals head comes out. The tongue is hanging out of its enormous mouth, like a dog would if it was too hot or happy to see you. This huge beast is the sa,e height as me on all fours... actually maybe taller. I have to look up to look in its eyes.

"What the hell are you?"  Okay I have reverted to talking to this thing again. This dog sat on its back paws and waited... for what I don't know, maybe for me to scream or run away maybe both. But I stood there and stared at it. It felt familiar. Like I have seem it before, but I would remember. I think.

It was gorgeous though, midnight black, with a tint of blue all over its fur. Even in the poor light you could see the blue.
