Ryan's POV

I can hear noises around me. People talking but I can't understand what they are saying. I know I am laying down but I have no idea how I got here. Wherever here is. I can't open my eyes. I can't move. All I see is black. All I hear is strange noises and none of it is making sense. Whatever happened to me must have been bad. UGH what the hell. Think! I left for a mission. We were watching the building. God, I never thought that would end. Night and day without moving just watching. Then... then... then what! Oh yeah an opening. I called in the team to go in. I remember going in and then having to run out. The guy... the bomb... I remember flying through the air. Thinking of Jules. Jules. I miss her. Why isn't she here. Why aren't I with her.  Fighting inner turmoil, I hear machines beeping insistently. Annoyingly. Somebody needs to make them shut up. I need to see Jules. I need to know she is okay. Come on Ryan. Open your eyes. Look around. Find out where you are.

"Doctor! He is showing movement."

I hear people. I can understand them. But I still don't feel Jules. My wife. Where is she. The machines are annoying. I wish someone would turn those off.

"Alpha, can you hear me." I hear someone ask. I assume they are talking to me, but I can't be sure. Its not making sense. Nothing is making sense.

My eyes flicker open. Then close. It seems to be a lot of effort to keep them open. Where is my wolf when you need him. Opening my eyes again, I see a guy leaning over me in a white coat, doctor I assume.

"Alpha, can you hear me?" I nod my head once and then wince. Shit that's painful. Note to self don't nod.

"It is good to see you awake sir. Can you move your fingers?" I lift my hand and move my fingers on both hands.

"Good. Good. How about your feet? Move your toes." I move both feet and their toes.

"Good, sir. How about you talk to me? Can you do that?" I go to respond but nothing comes out. The doctor lifts my bed up to put me in a sitting position. He put a glass next to my mouth so  I could drink. The water was ice cold. It hurt but felt so good at the same time.

"Thank you." I told him.

"Glad everything seems to be working, sir." I nodded, forgetting that it would hurt like hell.

"Where am I?" I asked

"Germany."

"Where is my wife?"

"Your wife, sir? No one is here but you and your team. Nobody knows you are still alive sir."

"Why?" I was fuming mad but I can't yell. Damn throat. Damn bomb.

"With the circumstances as they were sir. They didn't think it wise to let anyone know where you were."

"I understand. Did they tell her I was dead?"

"No sir. Nobody has said anything to her. She thinks your mission is still on."

I breathed out a sigh of relief. I can handle her thinking that. I feel bad her not knowing but I am glad they didn't tell her I was dead.

"Thank you. Can you tell me when I will be leaving this place?"

"You will have physical therapy for at least 6 weeks. Then we can talk about your discharge, sir."

"Ok. Lets get started I have a wife stateside I need to get to. It has been to long since I have been with her."

The doctor nodded his head, "Yes sir. I will have PT in here within the hour. But first I will send a meal. Good to see you up sir."
