'So you lived in Europe for four years, and you didn't have one girlfriend?' I asked Jason in utter shock.
'Why is that so hard to believe?' He chuckled.
'Um, because you're Jason Blackhall, the biggest flirt in the state.' I took another sip from my almost empty coffee mug as he continued
'Honestly it's not that crazy. I mean the girls were hot as shit but I was so focused on school I didn't have time for them.' He shrugged. 'So what's been going on with you?'
'Well I'm moving into dads for summer. My precious Sylvester got hit by a taxi about two months ago, turns out he was a she so thanks for your shitty name.' I giggled 'She had kittens though and I kept one and named her Millie.'
'Cute,' Jason smiled. 'How are things with your mom?'
I sighed and started to fidget with the end of my tattered old bracelet. 'Um... not great. I'm so glad to be getting away from her.'
'Is she still... you know...'
'Yeah, it's okay you can say it, I don't care. She actually stopped. Doesn't change the fact that I hate her for everything she put my family through.'
Jase nodded 'I'm sorry Bobby.'
'It's okay. It just bothers me how I had to grow up a lot. She was barely able to stay sober all day before she stopped. I literally had to do everything for myself.' I sighed.
Jason shook his head. 'A sixteen year old shouldn't have to fend for themselves.'
'I know, but hey, I'm almost seventeen.' I grinned.
'Aw your getting old.'
'Not as old as you, Mr. Almost eighteen.'
He rolled his eyes and checked his phone. I couldn't help but notice he had a text from a girl called Kerry. 'Woah it's almost six thirty. Do you want a ride home?'
'Sure. Who's Kerry?' I wiggled my eyebrows in a joking manner as he smirked at me and grabbed his keys off of the table.
'She's a friend from school. Now come on young one.' He stood up, grabbed one of my suitcases handles and walked out the door.
I got my other two bags and ran into the rain after him. The water droplets were ice cold as I stood next to Jason throwing my luggage into the trunk of his black BMW. 'The handle won't go down!' I shrieked as water rolled down my spine.
'Get in the car, I'll handle this.' He laughed.
'Puns for days man.' I rolled my eyes and ran to the passenger door. He hopped in next to me and we began the short drive home.
Lost in my own little world of thought I reminisced on my life with Jason. Meeting at the tender age of two, Jase was just a year my elder. His family lived next to mine in Pennsylvania. My parents divorced when I was merely five years of age, I went with my mother to live in New York and my sister Claire stayed with my father. Claire and Jason are the same age but always failed to get along. Claire was such a girly girl and I a tomboy who loved the company of a boy, unlike her who constantly informed me that boys had "cooties." Leaving Jase was so hard for me. I was envious of Claire getting to live in Pennsylvania next to my best friend. He came to visit me in New York often but not often enough. The city to him like a concrete jungle. So big and scary not knowing what was around the next corner, it was a huge adventure. Of course my summers were spent in my home town with my father and his newfound family in a new house. There was his wife Selena and their two daughters Ava and Molly and Selena's eldest daughter from a previous marriage, Ellie. And Claire, obviously.
