Chapter 5: Pain in the Heart

Liz watched as Zero struggles to climb the tree, trying to get Mittens back. Zero slipped on his robe and fell as Liz fell back laughing. Just then Zero appeared behind her.

Zero: "I cant get that stinking cat, it keeps moving..." sighs

Liz: "Well take that robe and hood off, that'll help?" points at his robe

Zero: "er.... umm.... no thanks..." sweat drops

Liz: "Why?"

Zero: "I er... kinda don't have anything on underneath this... heh heh."

Liz: mouth drops -_- "Fine, you can borrow some of my clothes" walks to closet and pulls out yellow and pink shirt with black leggings. "Here."

Zero: -_- "I'm not wearing that... also it looks too small..."

Liz: "True, I have never seen a guys wear leggings before?" walks to door "I bet I could borrow some of my dads clothes?" Zero is a little bigger than me, he looks about the size of my dad? walks out of room.

Zero sat on Liz's bed waiting, just then Liz peeked her head back in the room.

Liz: "I don't know your style, so you can come see what you might want to wear?"

Zero: Wont your dad be suspicious?"

Liz: "Oh please, usually its the woman who buy all the clothes, in this family its the dad... yeah XD"

Zero agreed and the two snuck into Liz's parents room. Zero looked in the closet and instantly started looking. He grabbed some clothes and looked at Liz. He was waving his hand, asking her to leave the room.

Liz: -_- leaves the room and goes to put on the pink and yellow shirt and leggings. comes right back to her parents room.

Zero opens the door doing a pose XD, but Liz just grabbed his arm and pulled him back to her room, not looking at the outfit.

Liz: "Could you have been any louder, my mom might have gotten suspicious!" looks at outfit

Zero: "Sorry, but what you think?"

Liz: "actually, that's not bad?"

Zero was wearing some old ripped jeans, a red t-shirt with a tan hoodie half zipped up. And for the first time, Liz saw Zero's hair and face. Zero's face was narrow and his skin a little pale, he had a small scar on his cheek as well. Zero had black, shaggy hair that seemed to want to stick up in the front, and was a little long in the back. Liz was about to comment his hair when he almost flew out the window into the tree. He came back a minute later with Mittens in his arms.

Liz: takes mittens and hugs her, she looked back at Zero "Thanks. And about that hair... I bet I could fix it up a litt..."

Zero and Liz heard a scream coming from the kitchen. Liz ran down stairs with Mittens still in her arms, while signaling Zero to stay put. When Liz got down stairs and to the Kitchen, her eyes widened with terror as she saw the whole kitchen on fire, it looked like the fire came from the stove. Liz screamed when she saw her mom laying in the corner, completely on fire. Liz's eyes flashed over to see the fire spreading at super speeds to the far closet. Liz froze, that was where the hot water tank was, if the fire hit it, the whole place would blow.

Liz begins to run towards her mom, but was caught by Zero picking her up. Her legs in one arm, and the other on her back. Zero was holding her head close to his chest as he ran to the door.

Liz: still clutching Mittens, screams into Zero's shirt "NOOO!!!" tears starting to fill her eyes.

Just as zero made it to the door and opened it, the whole place blew and the two flew outside by the force of the explosion. The two landed forcefully on their sides, Zero still holing Liz, and Liz still holding Mittens. Liz looked back up at the burning house as Zero instantly got up and checked Liz over for injuries. Liz had a deep cut on her arm, and Zero said a quick phrase and a first aid kit appeared. Liz didn't feel the pain in her arm, but felt a pain in her heart, as if it was torn in two.

Liz: is this part of the curse?
