Chapter Nineteen - Going To Eliza's Party

"Do you think it was a good idea to come here?" I shouted in Sam's ear.

The party was in full swing by the time we got here, and we were only thirty minutes late. I didn't expect it to be so many people crowded in the huge basement of Eliza's house. Eliza's house was bigger than Hunter's and Hunter's house was pretty big. These kids and their parents were too rich for me. The basement was basically another house; it had a kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Not to mention, there was enough room for a dance floor, so I would say it was very spacious. Spacious was an understatement, really.

Sam looked at me like I was crazy. "No, it wasn't! Have some fun, dang girl. We just got here."

"Alright, alright." I crossed my arms over my chest. "I'm gonna go sit on the couch. I'ma still be right there when you ready to go."

Just as I was about to head towards the couch, her fingers wrapped around my wrist.

"You're not gonna go sit down," she frowned, "I didn't waste my time to dress you up for nothing! You actually look hot tonight."

"So, you tryna say I'm ugly any other time?" I raised my eyebrows.

"You're my best friend, of course you're beautiful," she rolled her eyes, "I'm just saying your outfit will turn heads tonight."

"Maybe it'll even turn Hunter's." She smirked and I slapped her on the arm.

"You so silly." I narrowed my eyes at her. "It's not like that. We just friends."

"You guys would be cute together, though." Sam wiggled her eyebrows.

"I'm about to slap you inna minute." I pointed a finger at her.

"Where is he anyway?" Her eyes scanned the dark room with the disco ball lights. There were too many people to make out one person. It would be easier texting him.

"Um, I don't know." I shrugged my shoulders. "I know he's here because it was on his story."

"Let's put something on my story." Sam pulled out her phone.

She snapped a picture of us with the front camera and then she put the rest of the party on her story too.

"Oh, there he is." Sam shouted over the loud music, pointing a finger to the mini kitchen area.

It surprised me to see Hunter grinding with some girl. I'd never seen that side of him before and I didn't know how to feel about it. If he wanted to talk to Eliza, then why the hell was he dancing with a girl in that way? Boys could be really stupid at times. He would definitely have a slim chance with Eliza now—if she saw him and was actually into him.

"Damn, look at him. I know people think white people cant dance but he can." Sam gazed at him.

She was thirsty; she needed to stop because no best friend of mine was going to be thirsty for a boy. If anything the boy was going to be thirsty for her, not the other way around.

"Girl, stop lookin' at him like that." I lightly shoved her shoulder. "You look thirsty for him."

"Who wouldn't be thirsty for him?" She eyed his body up and down.

"Me, nigga!" I looked at her like she was crazy.

"You're crazy," she shook her head and grabbed my wrist again, "let's go talk to him."

Even though I protested and tried to keep my feet planted on the ground, she still managed to pull me away. A few seconds later we were standing by Hunter and 'No Name' while they were dancing.

"Hey, Hunter." Sam grinned, waving.

His eyes widened when he saw me and I shook my head, glaring at him. I wanted him to know he didn't do the right thing by dancing with some girl. It didn't even look like dancing; it looked like they were dry humping each other. He'd better hope Eliza didn't see him—although I doubted she did. It was enough people in here for me to get lost. She couldn't have seen him—which was good for him, but his actions weren't.

"Hey, you're Sam right?" Hunter infamously smiled at her and her knees practically turned into jelly.

"Yes, I am." She squeaked.

"You wanna get back to dancing or not?" The girl asked him with an attitude.

"Sorry, I don't, but it was nice meeting you."

He didn't say it in a rude way and maybe she thought they were going to do something other than dancing. He politely smiled at her and offered the girl a hug but she rolled her eyes and walked away. At least she got to dance with him; as Sam would say, there were loads of girls who would kill to even talk with him. Apparently he was just that cute to them. He wasn't all that cute, in my opinion. He had nice eyes and a killer smile, though.

"You guys made it!" Hunter clapped his hands. "Are you guys having fun?"

"I am," Sam pointed to herself and then me, "she isn't. She tried to leave the minute we got here."

"Why?" He furrowed his eyebrows.

"It's not my type of thing." I frowned and shrugged my shoulders.

"Then why'd you come in the first place?" He deadpanned.

"I don't know," I shrugged my shoulders again, "cuz I was invited, I guess."

"Yeah, that's why." Sam smirked and I slapped her arm for acting so stupid.

If she thought he was that cute, then maybe she should have tried to get with him herself. No matter what—under any circumstances—did I see us as an item in the future. She could get that idea out of her head now because it was never going to happen. Hunter was not my type and definitely not that cute. What did they see in him?

"Okay then." Hunter looked at us weirdly, dragging the 'o'. "Should we get the party started?"

"What do you mean?" I narrowed my eyes. "It already started."

"You're new to this," Hunter grabbed mine and Sam's hand, "you don't know how these things go!"
