"Why don't you ever go away?" She asked me, sitting on my lap.
I stroked her soft hair , "I have you."
She giggled , "I can come too, can't I ?"
I shook my head , "You're too little Desti."
"I can fight, big girls like me can fight !" She pouted out .
The new morning was starting and when my eyes popped open, I saw everyone still sleeping so I decided on going to the farthest river or water source. I walked to the door and opened it quietly, walking to the elevator where I pressed level one. As I stood there and waited, a man walked into the room looking at me with suspicions.
“Can I help you?” I asked him calmly, taking my attention to him instead of the elevator ride.
The man smiled, “Yes you can, you’re eyes … They’re different I don’t know if you know this but, there’s an agency doing tests and you seem like a perfect candidate..”
I did my very best to pull off a realistic smile and nodded no , “No thanks.” With that I was at my destination and I hurriedly left the elevator, walking quickly to the river which was an hour away from the hospital.
It was a cold morning , the wind blew my hair into different directions , as I walked on the sidewalk, cars sped past me leaving wind to make me shiver. I loved the many birds singing and I treasured all the beautiful flowers , the more I took in of the scenery the more I grew eager for the river to come into view, and as I went along further the woods were now along the sidewalk , but next to the sidewalk were rails and a steep hill. It didn’t stop me to be honest, it gave me a rush of excitement.
I ducked under the rail and set myself down to the ground , letting myself roll down the hill, feeling the sticks stab me harshly , the plants with spikes go into me painfully , and the rocks jabbing me as I went over them. Once I got down to the bottom I was all scratched up, but I didn’t care.
Blood was oozing out from some of the cuts and I started to run to the river and right as the river was two feet away from me, I leaped and jumped.
The amazing feeling of cold, icy water all over me was thrilling. I swam in the artic water, letting my arms rise and with my arms rising so did the water . It felt wonderful to use the powers in me. I swirled my index finger making the water go into the air, spiraling.
Then I dropped my arms, and the river water fell down powerfully creating me to fly backwards. I landed on the bank and saw all of my injuries were gone. That’s what amazes me the most though, every time I’m injured all I need is a natural water source to heal me. I laid down, closing my eyes and humming along with the birds as they chirped loudly over me. This is where I belong, I’m a creature who belongs with other creatures, but I’m almost extinct. I’m the last of my kind, I always tell myself.
Now was just exhilarating, all of the my worries had vanish, I’m becoming stronger than I ever was. I stood up and with my second and third finger together, I had a bit of water come up, the amount of an twelve ounce bottle. I learned this new thing where with my mouth if I blew , I can turn things into ice.
I made the water hurtle towards a bird and as I blew air, the water became an icicle, killing the bird with its sharp point. I didn’t mean to kill the poor bird, but I was testing out this new thing. The more I took my power over the limits the more I became endangered to having a nosebleed, so I decided to stop.
It was probably already two hours I spent here at the river, so I went back to the hospital. The only thing I was extremely worried about was my eyes. My eyes started to change to different colors of blue whenever I had done things with my powers or just gotten wet. There were new changes in me that I didn’t comprehend just yet. So, if I moved my hand in such a way to catch something, all the water in a faucet or some sort would pop out and move along with my hand, and if I got startled by it and stopped all the water would splash down. It didn’t just have to be with my hands coming down anymore, if I lost concentration it would’ve done it as well, which what happened.
