Discovering The Unknown (Chapter 1)

Chapter 1

Lilly's POV

I was listening to Live While We're Young by One Direction and cleaning my room. I hummed the lyrics as i dusted my desk and cleared all of my pictures, papers and books off of it. Suddenly, there was a loud knock on my door. " Honey, dinner's ready!" Said my mom.

"Okay, I'll be down in a minute." I screamed back. I put all of my things back on my desk after I finished dusting. Quickly, I changed into black leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. I pulled my straight brown hair into a high ponytail. I then turned off my music and ran down my stairs.

" Hey mom, hey dad." I said while kissing them both on the cheek. We're a very close knit family since it's just the three of us, and I love that. Even though they can be extremely busy with their jobs, but they somehow manage to always make time for me.

"Hi sweetie! How was your last day of high school?!" My mom said cheerfully.

"Good! I'm so happy I'm finally all done!" I smiled at her.

"Well you still have college remember." She said trying to hide her smirk.

"Haha how could I forget." I chuckled.

"Of course you didn't, now lets eat!" And with that we all sat at the table. I placed the plates on the table, my dad put out the utensils, and my mom got the food.

We all quietly ate our burgers and fries when my dad all of a sudden said,

"So do you have anything planned for summer?"

"No, just the same as always, reading, working at Crunch, and hanging out with Mollie and Caroline." Crunch is the local ice cream place that I work at, but there's plenty of those in Florida. Since its so hot we have at least four or five where I live. Crunch though is one of the most popular ones where we live, many people come from all over Florida because it has such good and unique flavors.

"Why don't you try something different? I mean you do the same thing every summer." He said as he readjusted his glasses on his nose.

"No I think I'm okay dad. Thanks for dinner, I'm going to bed love you mom." I said as I hugged her and then my dad.

"Love you too sweetie! See you in the morning!"

I walked up the stairs and changed into my pajamas and white t-shirt and pink pajama bottoms.

I hopped into bed and fell into a deep sleep.....

***4 hours later***

I heard a scream and immediately noticed it was my dad's. I quickly ran out of my bed and down to my parents' room. I slowly looked into my parents room and saw that my mom was having a heart attack.

" LILLY, CALL THE AMBULANCE NOW!" My dad screamed.

I quickly ran to the kitchen and made the call. Within 5 minutes the ambulance came and took my mom out onto a stretcher.

My dad held her hand as he was about to climb onto the ambulance with her. I almost cried as I saw my dad's love for her in his face.

I ran to meet up with my dad and we drove down the road speeding to the hospital that luckily was only minutes down the street.

Park Grove hospital has many floors and we were immediately let in because of the circumstances.

We waited outside the hospital room for what felt like hours, when in reality it was only fifteen minutes.

Finally, the doctor came out.

"Hi Mr and Ms. Summers I'm afraid I have some bad news for you." You could see clearly that he was looking at us sadly with a look of pity written all over his face.

"What is it doctor?" My dad said as his eyebrows furrowed and he reached to grab my hand tightly.

"I'm sorry but your mother has passed away." He said while looking straight at me.

Not knowing how to react, I did the first thing that came to mind.

Hi! I've decided to update early!!

I had writers block and I thought that I wouldn't have enough time with finals next week but ill post the first 2 chapters tonight!

I'll update again soon after I get out of school, since I want to do at least sort of well on my finals.

I hope you guys understand!
