P.O.V Firiel
Todays the day, I'm officially an adult! I'm thirty-three years of age and today I am an adult! But I don't feel like one, locked up here in Lord Elrond's home, Rivendell.. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful. Just not my kind of beautiful. But Rivendell was still home to me.
"Firiel!" Arwen called breaking me from my thoughts, "there you are! Alassëa nosta!" Arwen is very much a sister to me, an older one, much older. She is the one who taught me the language of men, before that all I could speak was elvish. She knelt and pulled me into a hug. Arwen then put something cold into my hand. I pulled away and looked at the necklace in my palm, it was beautiful, the chain was made from pale gold, almost the same colour as my hair, the pendant on the chain was circular in the middle of the pendant was a smaller circle; it was similar to a wheel. the pendants colour reminded me of the forests of my youth. "Thankyou! Arwen it is beautiful!" I smiled looking up at her. I may be an adult now, but I'm still as short as ever. Wonderful.
"Don't thank me yet, wait till you see what I managed to get my father to do!" Arwen stood up and glided out of the door as if floating, "Hurry up, Firiel!" I smiled and ran after her.
Nae! Alas! Why do Elves have to have such long legs!

P.O.V Gandalf
"Elrond, you know that I can't!" I exclaimed, this was my daughters life he was talking about, I swore to myself that I'd keep her safe. "You don't understand how dangerous it would be if she went!"
"Explain then, my friend, how would it be different this time? How would it be so dangerous with an Istari there protecting her? How could it be dangerous with her proficient abilities in combat there to protect her when you are not?" He was as cool and collected as ever.
"Elrond yo--" I was cut off by loud thudding from the corridor and giggles from outside the door, there was a light knock.
"We will continue this later, Gandalf," Elrond muttered, turning towards the door, "Come in girls." Arwen walked in first, she was as graceful as ever, and contrasted completely in both looks and manner to the little blonde head that walked through the door. Arwen was dark, elegant and tall compared to Firiel who was light, passionate and short, although she was tall compared to her brethren in the Shire.
"Father!" Firiel ran up to me and I knelt down and hugged her.
"Alassëa nosta! Firiel, happy birthday!" I exclaimed, happy to see my daughter after a couple months of being away, "You have grown, child!"
We parted, Firiel smiled at me, "How have you been father?"
"I've been well, child," I smiled, "I visited a couple...friends," I chuckled thinking of Thorin, and what was to come in the coming weeks. Perhaps it would be wise to bring her along. "How have you fared, my dear, in the weeks I've been away?"
Firiel smiled brightly, "Mainly, I have been training with the elves. It is most enjoyable..." she became wistful, "However... I do enjoy the moments when I can hole up in my room and read. Rivendell has such an extensive library... I can not fathom a day when I will have read every book on it's shelves.." I smiled down at her. I thought back to the times when I'd stayed in Rivendell when Firiel was but a child, we spent many an evening reading together. I had spent those days teaching her all there was to know about literature. Telling her tales of my adventures. I never realised how much I had missed them. How much time I had missed watching her grow up.
"I want to speak more, child, but I have business to attend to, please go off to the dining hall with Arwen, I will meet you there in a moment. I promise we will speak more later." Firiel looked like she was going to disagree but she decided against it and with a nod walked out of the room with Arwen trailing behind.
"Why do you wish for her to go, Elrond?" I asked. Elrond sighed.
"Gandalf, there are dangers everywhere in the world, it is unwise to keep her locked up here in Rivendell.. I believe that as she has come of age, that she should go with you and learn of the world around her." Now it was my turn to sigh. He was right as always.
"So be it, she will come with me, we leave in the morning." I turned to leave, but I still felt Elrond's victorious smile behind me.

P.O.V Firiel
Gandalf had arrived shortly after Arwen and I, and we had sat silently together throughout dinner. I'd grown up eating mainly meat as a child, but had grown accustomed to vegetables and salads after coming to Rivendell. The silence had become unbearable however and so I was thankful when Gandalf started to speak, "Firiel, if you have finished dinner please go to your room to pack, lightly though however, you can not ride when carrying a heavy pack." I sat there dumbfounded for a moment, then a large grin appeared upon my face."Am I going with you on your journey father?" I asked.
"Yes, child, now go pack, it will be quite a journey."
