P.O.V Firiel
"Gandalf. I thought you said this place would be easy to find. I lost my way, twice. Wouldn't have found it at all had it not been for that mark on the door." He even spoke like a leader. Bilbo marched right up to Thorin, apparently he forgot the need to be a good host.
"Mark? There's no mark on that door. It was painted a week ago!" Mr Baggins was a funny sight to see, almost a foot shorter than the king acting all tough-like.
"There is a mark; I put it there myself. Bilbo Baggins, allow me to introduce the leader of our company, Thorin Oakenshield." Mr Baggins seemed to shrink considerably at the mention of Thorin's name.
"So, this is the Hobbit. Tell me, Mr. Baggins, have you done much fighting?" One look at Mr Baggins and you could tell he hadn't. I wondered why the king would ask Mr Baggins a question that he already knew the answer of. Mr Baggins seemed just as confused.
"Pardon me?"
Thorin ignored Mr Baggins, he seemed to be pressing an unknown point, "Axe or sword? What's your weapon of choice?"
"Well, I have some skill at Conkers, if you must know, but I fail to see why that's relevant." I inwardly groaned. You silly hobbit! Now is not the time to get all sarcastic on the king! Thorin did not look pleased by Mr Baggins humour.
"Thought as much. He looks more like a grocer than a burglar." Thorin laughed, it was then on that I would never think of him as a king. Kings do not prey on the weak, and make a mockery of them. The dwarves all laughed at Bilbo, and I did not like it. I pitied the poor little man. "Excuse me!" I exclaimed, everyone in the room stared at me, Thorin who had turned his back, spun around to look at me.
"And who is this, Gandalf?" Thorin asked Gandalf, apparently not happy that I spoke out. Good. I hadn't even started yet.
Gandalf turned to speak, but I cut him off, "It matters not who I am, presently, I do not like the tone of voice you used when addressing Mr Baggins." Thorin turned red, he was not used to being spoken to this way.
"And what gives you the right to speak to me that way?" He looked down at me, although I was taller than Mr Baggins, and not much shorter than a dwarf.
"What do you think gives you the right to speak to Mr Baggins that way? You are no better than him, Master Dwarf," The whole room had its eyes on me and Thorin. Gandalf thought it best to step in.
"Firiel! Mind your manners girl! Go outside now!" Gandalf's voice boomed throughout the room. I held my chin up indignantly however, and walked out the door and sat on the bench, I could hear Gandalf's voice inside, asking the 'King' to forgive his daughters outburst. After a moment I could see someone sit beside me on the bench. I expected it to be Gandalf, or even Bilbo, however, it was the handsome dwarf from earlier. Kili.
"I admire what you did in there... it required bravery. I would like to have that kind of bravery one day..." Kili seemed uncomfortable, probably because this was the first time we had spoken, and he did not know what to make of me, I had just yelled at his king.
"I couldn't stand for him to stand there arrogantly and laugh at Mr Baggins. The poor man has been trod on all night, in his own home... He has no idea what is going on and that man went and insulted him." I muttered quietly. I understood what it was like to be treated unfairly because of my size, that is why I learnt to stand up for myself, Bilbo couldn't even stand up for himself. He was being ambushed.
"I understand your reasoning, I just wanted you to know, despite his misgivings.. My uncle really is a good man, and a good king. Please do not judge him too quickly," Kili smiled sheepishly, patted me on the shoulder, and got up. He walked up to the door and turned around, winking at me, "Good luck."
Gandalf walked outside just as Kili went inside. I needed as much luck as I could get. Gandalf sat beside me, smoking his pipe. I coughed, turning my back towards him.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you, child.." Gandalf started, "I approve of you standing up for Bilbo.. It's just the way you did it.." I sighed, I turned to look at my father.
"I'm sorry... My anger got the better of me.. However, I am not sorry that I did it, I am proud that I stood up to that arrogant dwarf." I stated, Gandalf started to chuckle, but stopped himself.
"Hush, girl! please apologise to the king." Gandalf pleaded, and despite my views. Despite how much I resented the dwarf, I agreed to start afresh. I nodded.
"This better be worth it, father."
Gandalf chuckled, "Trust me, It will be."

P.O.V Bilbo
"You're going on a quest?" I asked the dwarves, slightly intrigued. At that moment Gandalf walked in, followed by the girl, Firiel. She was considerably brave, and I felt safer knowing that she was around. I was grateful to her for standing up for me, back there, but I did feel guilty as well, she got in trouble because of me.
"Bilbo, my dear fellow, let us have a little more light." I brought a candle to the table as Gandalf pulled out a map and set it down in front of him and the dwarves. I couldnt help but notice Firiels usual honey brown eyes glow orange in the candle light, they were very beautiful, I sobered however when I noticed the beardless dwarf lock eyes with her. Of course she would be interested in him, all brave and courageous... Nothing like me... He wasn't a silly homebody who couldn't even fight his own battles.
God why do I even care anyway!
