"You know Sara? I am feeling really positive," Tanya chirped, as we faced the Seven Empire, our workplace after getting down from the cab. The majestic seven-tower complex was a sight to behold. Every time I entered, my chest filled with pride. The Architecture was all glass, and greenery to accentuate its five-star status.
"And the reason being..." I prompted striding forward towards the grandiose entrance of the complex.
"Of course, because I am looking fabulous today," she smirked while her hand was busy fishing out her ID card.
I regarded her overweight form with a questioning glance. That instantly made a scowl appearing on her perky and round face. I hated to admit it that Tanya, even being a curvy girl was a beautiful girl. Her soft and big brown eyes, small perky nose and straight hair always worked magic for her.
The simplest of long shirt and jeggings was looking distinctive and her personality always stood out. There was no shortage of dates with her too. Already two ex-boyfriends in her sleeves, she was in a process of hunting the third one.
"No. It might be because you had a pretty nice and full breakfast because of me," I teased her punched my card at the lobby.
"Oh please! The burnt Aloo Paratha doesn't come in the category of nice." She rolled her eyes. Well, it wasn't my forte to cook. But burnt? That was an exaggeration.
I eyed her with I-will-get back-to-you look and hopped into the lift. The usual faces were smiling formally at us, they were strangers and yet not.
"You still haven't told me about the date!" she whispered in my ears while the lift zoomed towards our destination on the 13th floor.
There were many reasons for that. The first reason was that the date was a disaster considering how beautifully it would have ended. Sigh! And second that Tanya had replaced my grandmom. She could be as interrogative and protective as my nani had been.
I got out, ignoring her, making my way towards the office of Purple Magazine. We waved at Sofia, the receptionist and entered through the left side. Our cubicles were side by side. I was currently attached with Art team, in which Tanya worked.
The office was a bright space with entire floor divided in cubicles and offices. The other side, looking out to the front of the building was the office of the CEO, Anamika Vora. It was still five minutes to ten; it was the time of her arrival every day. She was by far the youngest CEO any JP India magazines had till date. She was a fierce force who kept her employees on their toes. Tanya and I was admired her when she marched in her shiny bag, her shiny clothes and most importantly the I-own-it-all look on her proud and skinny face.
As we sipped our morning coffee at the small counter, Kush aka Kushal Kumar Roy came with this camera bag on his shoulders. His dark eyes under his glasses looked tired and unslept.
"Morning Kush." We both chimed and hugged him. He had the same height as me; I often teased him about it.
