Drecta's POV

Lisa and I got to the ball, the first thing I noticed was a guy dressed in black standing in the far corner of the room. I think he was wearing a hat too.

He is so creepy!

I stared at him for a while but he crept back into the shadows, typical of a creepy guy.

I looked around the room for other things, but it was really just standard dance set up.

Boring.

If Lisa hadn't dragged me here I would be back in our room.

Well that's not entirely true, I do want to hear Will of the Abyss sing...

Before I'd realized, people started dancing. I was too deep in thought thinking about the shadow guy to really pay much attention.

"Since, I'm not allowed to go near Bassy...and seeing as how you're here practically by yourself. Would you like to dance?"

I turned my head to see who was asking, It was Sir Sutcliff. I should have realized that when he said "Bassy".

I really am out of it today.

He was wearing a bright red dress, not specifically a ball gown, but pretty close. He always wears this color.

I wonder why...

"Sure, I don't see why not" I replied nonchalantly. I needed to get my mind off of the shadow guy anyway.

I grabbed his hand and led him out to the dance floor. Considering the fact we were both dressed opposite to our genders, I decided to take the lead.

I was surprisingly good at it. Which was kind of amusing. Sir Sutcliff was taller then me so I'm sure we looked really awkward together. That didn't matter though.

I got really close to him, (not purposefully it just kind of happened). Something seems off today. He smells a little different. I couldn't quite place it though.

"Oi! Are you sniffing me? You're a strange boy...I know I'm an attractive lady, but don't get to attached. I'm not planning on having an affair on Bassy, with the likes of you."

He is certainly full of himself and still seems to think I'm a male.

I didn't realize my face was so close to his, so I was going to back up a bit. Not too much though, we have to maintain dancing posture after all. Then I decided, forget it, I'll just do this instead...

I did the standard dip dancing move. It was a little awkward since he is taller then me, but I really didn't care.

I leaned in really close to his face and said "Don't underestimate a girl like me Sir Sutcliff, if I really wanted to I could make you fall for me," with that I dropped him on the floor dumbfounded and walked away.

"Girl?!?!?" He looked so confused, I couldn't help but laugh.

Now time to go find out who that weird shadow guy was, I really can't get him off my mind after all.

I followed the direction I thought he was standing. It was hard to place it though. I decided just to follow my instincts and try going somewhere.

I ran in the direction I'd thought he'd go. We'll see how accurate I was.

The hall lead to a little place outside, it wasn't an area that I'd seen around, (and I usually walked around during my days I skipped school, I thought I'd seen everything). The moon was out and it was really beautiful. Somehow it reminded me of that night, when I lost my eye. I reached up to touch the empty socket.

Scarred, like normal. I traced the other scars surrounding it, reminiscing the day it was lost.

So nostalgic.

I heard a noise, and turned.

There he was, the man that caught my interest.

He was similar to the Undertaker Lisa had described to me before. Perhaps they were the same.

He was wearing black and had a devious grin, I noticed a scar around his neck. There was another one across his face, and fringe covering his eyes.

I wonder what his eyes look like.

Perhaps I'm just curious. When something is hidden you always want to see it more...

He looked like a maniac, but I didn't mind.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"I'm the school janitor, the Undertaker."

So I was right. He is the same person Lisa mentioned to me. His voice seemed familiar, but someplace inside me I wanted to deny it.

He walked closer to me and became extremely close.

He put his hand on my face moving my hair to uncover the eye. It's not like I wanted to hide it, but I didn't feel the need to swipe his hand away. He felt so familiar, like someone I could trust.

I kept ignoring the nagging feeling inside myself, that this person was someone I'd met before, that he was the one who's caused me pain.

I don't know why I didn't want to believe it. I just didn't.

"You look absolutely terrible." He had a weird voice, but the freakish grin still remained.

"You're not so good-looking yourself hot-shot." I dead-panned moving my hand to point at the scar encircling his neck.

It was quite entrancing. I started to trace it. The scar felt sloppy, of course by the way it looked you could tell it wasn't a clean cut.

"Drecta? This is you isn't it?"

"That's my name."

All of the indicators were staring me in the face, but I still refused to believe the obvious.

I put my hand to his cheek and swiped some of the fringe away.

My undying curiosity was getting the best of me, even if I didn't really want to know the answer.

The eyes.

Those eyes.

His eyes.

"Adrian..." I whispered barely audible.

((A/N: another cliff hanger and the first one wasn't even resolved yet!
