Chapter Ten

I get out of the car and see Nick waiting there already. He is waiting in front of the shop the camera picked the car up and he is smiling. I can see that hope in his eyes and he still has the hope we would find Amanda and Melinda.

Nick and Carisi get out of the car after me and follow me to Nick.

"Hey, Liv. I got here as soon as I could after I got your message." Nick says.

"Good. But there is a question that has been bothering me lately." I turn around to face the others too. "Who is looking after Melinda's daughter?"

Carisi is the one to answer. "Her sister. She told me to contact her and drop the kid at hers, so I did." He shakes his head. "I really don't want to know what that kid and those two are going trough." Silence crumbles upon them as they enter the building.

The shelves are full with un-buyed stuff and a thick layer of dirt lays on them. The room is lit and dust travels in the air and the sun is barely shining trough the dirty windows.

I cough a few times at the strong smell of dirt as Carisi approaches the desk. An old man sits behind the counter, half asleep. He jolts up, as he sees Fin's and Carisi's badge.

"Is this about the car?" He asks.

"Yes. We were informed that the car that went missing today had passed this building." Carisi says. Fin looks at him suspiciously.

"Yes. As you can see, there are not many customers here. I saw a few people stealing stuff from outside and I ran out, but it was too late. They were gone." He stops.

"Go on." Fin says.

"That one car passed. It- it was grey-ish black. I could just make out two women on the ground on the floor. The windows were darkened but there was a blonde. They were passed out, so I called the police."

"Could you show us the security camera?" I ask from the back. He smiles.

"Anything for you."
