I'm watching, as Carisi puts Amanda and Melinda's case into the shelf with other unsolved cases.
It had been two years since their kidnap and we still hadn't found one clue to where they were.
Sam had stolen all security footages and it was easy for him, since he was a cop too. In Atlanta.
'Let's go, Liv.' Carisi whispers, as he grabs my arm slightly, but I don't move.
'I don't want to know what they are going trough.' I say in a low voice.
'You are torturing yourself by looking at the unsolved case. Let's go.' Carisi sighs.
'They were our partners, Carisi!' I say in disbelief.
'Yes and we failed. Maybe they will find a way to run away, but our hands are tied now. We cannot do anything.' He shakes his head. 'Sam was a pro.'
As we enter the squad room, I immediately see the lit candles on Amanda's desk. My heart gets heavier, as I see Amanda's and Melinda's smiling faces frozen in that time the photo had been taken.
I actually start to think why we solved Reese's case. If we hadn't, none of this would have happened and Amanda and Melinda would be smiling again. It's funny how just one decision could destroy your life that easily.
I take two candles from my pocket and walk towards Amanda's desk. 730 days. Exactly 730 days had passed, since Amanda left this room, smiling, unknowing what would happen that night would change her life forever. We had been so blind. I had phoned Amanda so many times that day and she hadn't picked it up. I should have went over to her apartment and maybe, just maybe, this desk would be filled again full by hope and happiness. Just maybe.
I light each candle for each of them and slowly put it on her desk. There are beautiful pink and red roses in front of their faces and their eyes sparkle with hope.
I'm sorry. I whisper, as a tear escapes my eye and I wipe it away quickly. I always loved Melinda's sassy comments and Amanda's positiveness.
Just then, I hear a cough from behind me and I turn around in panic, as I see a blonde woman standing behind me. Her blue eyes and short blonde hair remind me of Amanda. I quickly wipe a tear from my face.
'C-can I help you?' My voice cracks.
'Um... My name is Rose Baycoff. I am here to replace Detective Amanda Rollins.'
