The past summer I had gone on a mini-vacation with another friend of mine, Natalie. She was a cheerleader and she made me go with her to a competition. When I was there I texted Her every minute. She said she loved me and I said it too. Then she cut me off from everything. She left me on the outside and that's where I stayed. I didn't push to make it in. I let her be.
Then next day, she sits alone again. Her eyes are just as tired as before. I sit down and, with no surprise, my friends follow. Then more people join. Within a few minutes the table had grown from one to six and counting. Someone asked why She sits alone. She turns her head and says, "I'm never alone. The voices are enough." No one speaks to that. "Why were you sitting by yourself?" Someone else called out. "Because I wanted to be alone! Then these effers came!" She said as she motioned towards me and Katie. I blushed and looked at my hands. The noises then drowned us out and we were lost in the drama of ninth grade girls, and football jocks.
I passed Her in the hallway and I tapped her shoulder. She turned and looked but when She realized it was me, She kept walking. I turned and went my own way. This is how She wants it to be.
