I woke up the next morning very crabby. I guess I didn't sleep that well on account of the thunder and lightning. And the fact that I slept on the cement floor of my basement. What fun that was. Anyway, I took a shower, fixed my hair, did my make-up, grabbed my books, and headed for the bus stop. And I waited for Chris. But he never showed up. Great, my only friend is gone. He's never missed a day of school in his life. He is a perfect attendence kind of guy. He will come to school with a little ice cream pale with a lid to puke in because he wont miss school. And I think that's the most discusting thing ever. But I got on the bus and sat in our usual seat, alone. We pulled up to the school and I got out quickly in search of Chris. He was no were in sight.

At the end of first period, I realized his mom must have made him stay because he was sick enough. Or there was a family emergency. I just ignored it and went on with my day. During lunch, was when I started to panic. I mean, I only sat with him at lunch. He was a big protection for me against Debby. But she seemed too upset today to do anything. She probably had a break-up with boyfriend number 4 of the week. So I ate my lunch in silence, looking around to see if anyone was looking at me.

During 6th period, my teacher, Mr. Wright, got a phone call. "Yeah. Yeah. Okay, i'll send her down." He said and turned around. "Maddie, the office needs to speak to you." He said with a stern tone. A cloud of "Oh's" filled the room as I grabbed my bags and headed out the door. Something was up, I knew it. I had never been called down unless I was picking up some books my mom had dropped off or I was going home early. I got to the office doors and stepped in.
