Chapter Three

"I'm sorry I have to go now." I say absentmindedly into my phone.

As I shove it into my pocket I hear the lady say, "Please Naomi, don't hang up!" Too late I disconnect the line.

"We have to find Sidney." I tell them. Dustin nods vigorously and goes to leave; I grab his arm before he could disappear alone into the wilderness. "We can't just spread out. The storm's too bad for that."

"What are we supposed to do then?" Dustin spits, "My little sister's out there by herself in the storm."

I see the tears in his eyes; I step back and start to yell, "Sidney!"

I wake up to voices. They were yelling... Yelling my name, but why?

Oh right, I hit my head. I think. Because... because I went back to grab the ax Mitchel dropped. Everyone else was preoccupied with the something, I can't remember what. All I remember was that Naomi was taking control of it. Naomi saving the day again, although I can't remember what she was doing to make me so mad, all I knew was I didn't want to stick around for it. So, I thought I'd be of some use and get the ax for Mitchel.

I must have hit my head on a tree or something. God, I was stupid sometimes. Now my head was throbbing and it wouldn't go away, which was getting annoying.

"Sydney!" I hear Naomi call. I roll my eyes. She was leading the search party of course; she was too much of an attention hog to pass up the opportunity.

I guess I should go back. I slowly get up aware of the pain in my head.

"Sydney!" I hear my brother yell. I can tell he's upset. I need to get back, fast. I look around, squinting to see if I could spot them but all I see is white. Something was either really wrong with my eyesight or the storm was getting worse.

"Sydney!" I hear again, I think it was Mitchel this time. I move in the direction of his voice.

"Sydney!" I hear Kyle, he was visibly worried. Well, not visibly worried since I couldn't you know see him but I could tell he was worried I'd become accustomed to the sound of his voice and the different tones it took on with his diverse emotions.

"Sydney!"

"Sydney!"

"Sydney!"

The voices were getting louder and louder, they start to mix together, I couldn't identify them anymore. I start to run but I still couldn't see anything.

"Sydney!"

"Sydney!"

I was getting closer I saw four silhouettes. I run towards them but as I get closer I see they're just trees. Panic surges through me. What if I never find them? What if I die out here?

"Sydney." I hear again it sounds just as loud as before, if not louder.

I see four more silhouettes, "Please let it be them." I whisper to myself in a desperate voice, tears were streaming down my face.

"What if she doesn't come back?" Dustin asks.

"She'll come back." Naomi assures in a not-so-confident voice.

I run and the shadows get bigger. I finally had reached them, I almost collapse in relief.
