Chapter Twelve

“Go on.” Sydney urges, pushing me through the threshold of the dining room where Dustin was waiting, I shake my head. “Why not?” She asks.

“Go.” She repeats, “You weren’t nervous before so why are you now?”

“Because it’s actually happening, I thought I was dreaming or something.” I mumble.

“In a dream you spend forever letting me put on your make-up and do your hair?” She asks.

            I shrug, “I don’t know.”

“Point proven, now go your dates waiting.” She orders, before I could protest she pushes me hard, and I go stumbling through the door.

            “Hey.” He says.

            “Hi.” I reply back nervously.

            “Is someone nervous?” He teases.

“No.” I lie, shaking my head.

            “Mm hmm.” He replies skeptically.

“Ms. Wheeler, Mr. Winsor, you may now be seated.” Mitchel says trying to be all formal, I hold back I laugh.

Mitchel leads us to a table for two. The only one in the room, Dustin pulls out my chair and I sit down.

“Your server Kyle will be here momentarily to take your orders; cough Fettuccini and chicken cough.” He coughs.

I roll my eyes as Mitchel leaves, going back into the kitchen.

“You do like that don’t you?” Dustin asks.

“I do,” I say nodding, “I’m just surprised they’re making something like that.” He waits for me to go on, “I expected pizza or chicken nuggets with them doing the cooking.”

“That’s what they wanted to do, but I got them to do this.” Dustin replies.

“I’m guessing it wasn’t completely voluntary then.” I note.

“You could say that.” He retorts and I chuckle.

That’s when our dinner arrives; they must have had it premade. I’m surprised I didn’t smell it, nerves I guess, and somehow they cut off my smelling capabilities. It’s really good, I wonder who cooked it.

We enjoy our dinner, talking, about lots of different random stuff. Laughing our heads off when Kyle almost spilled our drinks on us, but sadly for him the liquid fell onto him. After; we went to watch a movie.

I’m just glad the movie wasn’t some horror film, doing the cliché guy thing where I get scared and he protects me. It was a comedy, it was so funny. I was laughing along with Dustin the whole time.

The whole date had gone well, scratch that it had gone great. I was very surprised I expected it to be terribly awkward, filled with silences, but it wasn’t we were talking the whole time except for when we were watching the movie because you can’t really talk through that.

The credits were just rolling now, meaning the movie was over, which meant the date was as well.

I get up off the couch and flick on the light, blinking I let my eyes adjust. Dustin gets up as well.

“I’ll walk you to your door.” He says and I laugh. He offers me my arm and I take it.

            “What a gentleman.” I coo.

            “I try.” He replies.

“I’m sure you do.” I say and he grins.

            We arrive at my door.

“This was fun but…” I start to say.

“But you think we should stay friends,” He fills.

“Yeah, I mean maybe after we get out of here but right now it feels wrong because our lives are in danger,” I say.

“Hey, it’s fine,” He says. “You’re right but it was still fun.”

I smile remembering it, “Yes it was.”

He walks up to me and kisses me on my forehead, “Good night, Naomi.”

“’Night Dustin,” I reply before walking into my room.

I turn on the light to see Sydney sitting on my bed.

“So how did it go? Did he kiss you? Did you kiss him back? How was the movie? The food? Tell me everything.” She squeals. You’d think she’d be less enthusiastic to know, Dustin was her brother, but know she was excited as ever.

“Good. Yes and yes. The movie was good. The food was great, I’m just glad I didn’t end up getting it spilled on me.” I say.

“Come on.” She whines, “Give me details.”

“Fine,” I say. I then recount the evening to her right up to the point when we both agree that it was for the better if we stayed a part.

            “Aw,” She complains.

“It’s not like it’ll never happen again there’s a possibility that once all of this is over but I don’t know,” I say. “I’m going to bed.”

She yawns, “Okay, me too.” And she leaves my room, leaving me alone to think things over.

Dedicated to @NerdsAreCute who made the new cover

So this chapter is really short, shorter than before. I had to change some things around because they just weren't working even in this first draft without me re-writing the whole thing.

This is going to be completely re-written hopefully soon to change everything I've missed and everything that doesn't make sense.

Only two more chapters to go, update on Sunday then one on Wednesday. Then its over unless you want to re-live everything when I post the re-write. Like I said before hopefully soon but scholl is starting and exactly thirteen days and I have a lot of other writing I have to keep up on.

Whoo long AN.
