Chapter Fourteen

The helicopter was coming today, for real this time, and it was for us. Today we’re leaving, getting out of the storm. I was fidgeting with excitement I couldn’t stop moving.

“Relax Naomi,” Dustin orders.

“I can’t I’m too excited.” I reply, “I can’t believe we’re getting out.”

“Neither can I,” He admits, “But you don’t see me jumping up and down and running around the room.”

“I can’t help it.” I whine.

“Hopefully you’ll calm down once they get here.” He says quietly, rubbing his temples.

“Please, I’m perfectly calm.” I say, sitting down beside him, stopping my jumping and forcing myself not to move, “See.”

“Mm hmm,” He scoffs.

“Where are the others?” I ask.

“I don’t know, probably still sleeping.” He says.

“Oh really?” I say mischievously.

“What?” He asks.

“We should wake them up.” I suggest with a devilish grin on my face.

He sighs, “What you’re not up to it?” I ask.

“Of course I am.” He replies, getting up, “What’s your plan?”

“Well… I have a few air horns…” I trail off.

“Really?” He asks, I nod, “What are you waiting for lets go.” He says throwing me over his shoulder.

“What are you doing?” I ask.

“Getting the air horns.” He replies.

“You don’t even know where they are.” I point out, as he starts walking.

“You do so lead the way.” He tells me.

“If you haven’t noticed I can’t really lead the way if I’m not able to walk.” I point out.

“True.” He agrees pulling me off his shoulder and setting me back on the ground.

I turn away from him and walk into the kitchen.

“Your air horns are in the kitchen?” He asks.

“No, but we can’t just wake them up with air horns, we have to be more creative.” I reply, getting out some whip cream.

“Putting whip cream on their hands and rubbing a feather under their noses is creative.” He asks arching an eyebrow at me.

“But of course.” I say shaking the whip cream and picking up a feather. Also, I grabbed a marker from one of the drawers, they were lucky we were going home today or it would have been permanent instead of washable.

“Where are your air horns?” He asks impatiently.

“Hold on a second.” I command, tossing him the marker.

“One.” He counts, time’s up.

“Don’t be a smartass.” I scold.

“Do we have to go over this again, I am smart- .” He starts

“And have a very nice ass, yes I’ve got it.” I interrupt.

“I’m glad you think so.” He says.

“You’re so lucky you’re awake or you’d be getting a face full of whip cream.” I threaten.

“Yum.” He replies, taking the whip cream and squirting some in his mouth.

“You’re so weird.” I comment, “Now give me some.”

“So are you.” He says. I stick my tongue out at him before squirting some whip cream in my mouth.

“Let’s go get the air horns.” I say, taking his hand.

I skip into my room, grabbing the two air horns that were sitting on my dresser; I’m surprised none of them noticed I had them during our Harry Potter movie marathon a few weeks ago.

I hand one to Dustin, “Why do you have two?” He asks.

I shrug, “Stole my sisters.”

“Nice,” he replies.

“You’re a bad influence.” I scold.

“Hey you’re the one that stole.” I don’t say anything I just walk out of my room and into the one Sidney was in but Dustin stops me.

“No, she’s mine.” He says with a wicked grin on his face.

“Fine, I’m getting Kyle and Mitchel.” I say walking out of that room and to the one housing the two boys. They were sleeping next to each other on the bed; I think a little bromance is forming.

I sneak up beside Mitchel, I pull out my marker I give him a lightning shaped scare on his forehead, then I give him a mustache, and a round pair of glasses.

I move over to Kyle, I write Naomi was here on his forehead, and give him a mustache and a marker beard.

Then I pull out the whip cream, I put some on their hands then I rub the feather under their noses. They then being completely unaware of what they’re doing; get a face full of whip cream. That’s when I bring out the air horn, I blow it and they both jump out of bed, looking around the room wildly, getting into a defense position.

Then they see each other and they start to laugh.

“You’re…face.” Mitchel says.

“What about my face? Look at yours, do you always look this Harry Potter-ish in the morning?” Kyle asks.

“What?” Mitchel asks, running into the bathroom and Kyle follows him.

“Naomi!” They yell. Uh-oh that’s my cue to leave, I sprint out of the room and right into Dustin.

“Help they’re after me.” I say, he nods and grabs my hand. I run into my room and lock the door.

“This better be washable.” Mitchel says.

“It is you should go wash your faces off.” I suggest. I hear grumbling, then the pounding on the door stops and the footsteps fade away.

“What did you do to Sidney?” I ask.

“Oh nothing,” He says with a smirk, “But I don’t think you’ll be seeing her until she gets her face washed off.” I just look at him, I’m not sure if I should ask, I don’t think I should.

We wait a few minutes just waiting, that’s when we decide it’s safe to make a break for it. I get behind Dustin as he opens up the door. I peer out behind him, there was no one waiting for us.

We slowly make our way to the living room and decide to wait them out. They come out a while later all dressed and looking awake, but they don’t look happy they look mad.

“What was that for?” Mitchel asks.

“We thought we’d do you a favor by waking you up.” Dustin says innocently.

“I am so going to get you.” Mitchel says, approaching us. That’s when I hear the sound of a helicopter pass over head. Everyone pauses and we all start to cheer, all the former anger gone.

Soon after we hear a knock on the door, we all sprint over to it, I open it to reveal Leo, Isaac, and Jeff.

“Are you guys ready to go home?” Leo asks.

“Hell to the yeah.” Dustin says.

We pull on our coats and other winter clothing and follow, the three outside to the helicopter. We get on it, and Isaac hands us out those weird earmuff things. I put them on.

The helicopter lifts off.

“I’m not going to forget about the wakeup call.” Mitchel threatens. I laugh.

I rest my head on Dustin’s shoulder; he wraps his arm around me.

We are getting out of this storm, we are finally. We’re going home.

The End!
