Chapter Six
Half an hour later has gone by and we’re outside of Dustin’s house. He still hasn’t put me down. Boys!
“Do we need anything from in there?” Dustin asks me.
“Umm,” I think, “I don’t know, maybe.”
“Why not,” He shrugs, “Guys we’re going up to my house.” He went to carry me up the driveway.
“Why can’t you just put me down?” I whine, squirming in his grip, trying to free myself.
“Because I don’t want to,” He replies.
“Come on.” I complain, if I was on the ground I probably would have stomped my foot instead I cross my arms and pout. He laughs at me and I try to keep my pouty face firm but fail and a smile spreads onto my face.
It’s not until we reach the top of the driveway that he finally puts me down.
“Finally!” I exclaim dramatically. I turn around walking backwards and spreading my arms wide. “See I told you I could walk.”
I smirk at him but then my legs betray me and disappear beneath me and I end up falling right on my a**.
He walks over to me and offers me his hand, I take it and he pulls me up so we are face to face, more like face to neck, because he’s so much taller. I tilt my head up so I can see him; he leans in closer to me. Oh my God, he was going to kiss me! He leans in farther his face coming closer and closer, right before his lips were about to connect with mine he turns his head and whispers in my ear.
“And I told you, you couldn’t.” I push him away from me.
“You jerk!” I yell at him.
He grins at me, “What? Were you expecting something else?” He asks raising an eyebrow and his grin turning into a smirk. Of course I was expecting something else, I’m a girl.
I huff in annoyance and turn away from him. He laughs, that’s all he does laughs at me. I turn back to face him and stick my tongue out at him which just makes him laugh even harder. I frown pulling my tongue back into my mouth. Well, that was a mistake. On the bright side I didn’t know I was that funny.
“Shouldn’t we go inside?” I suggest.
“Yes… We… Should,” He gets out between laughs. I roll my eyes at him.
He fishes the keys out of his black winter coat and unlocks the door and we step in.
It was a really nice house, it was about the same size as mine and my house was pretty big. Not million dollar mansion big but a nice home.
“What do we need?” Dustin asks, when no one answers him he turns expectantly to me.
“Probably anything warm, flashlights although we probably won’t need them, the power’s on at my house.” I answer.
“Isn’t the power out?” Sydney asks sounding confused.
“It is but we have this generator that kicks on once the power goes out.” I explain.
“Cool.” She replies happily. That’s weird she’s usually never happy when she’s talking to me. I look at her strangely then I move my glance to the right of her and there was Kyle standing beside her. That explains it.
“What about food?” Mitchel asks guys and their food.
“We have lots.” I answer, “My mom was always paranoid that something like this would happen so we have a backroom stocked with non-perishables. That’s also why we have the special generator even though it costs a lot, because of my mom’s paranoia.”
