Goku awoke to the smell of breakfast. His stomach growled ferociously; he realized he hadn't properly eaten in two days. He got up and got dressed quickly, heading to the kitchen. Chichi was just finishing the cooking, and Goten wasn't in the kitchen yet.
"Good morning!" said Goku in a cheerful tone. "Man, I'm starving!" Chichi blinked, setting his plate on the table. She smiled.
"Well I'm glad you've finally decided to eat something," she said, setting a plate for Goten. "What was bothering you these past couple of days?"
"Oh nothing," said Goku, starting to stuff his face. "I just didn't feel well, that's all." He ate like he usually did, cramming large ammounts of food in his mouth at a time, finishing his breakfast quickly. Chichi smiled and hugged him from behind. Goku tensed, frowning slightly.
"It's good to have you back to your normal self," she said softly, kissing his cheek. Goku felt very uncomfortable, but he couldn't voice it.
"Hey, where's Goten?" he asked quickly. Chichi blinked.
"I don't know," she replied. "Goten! Get in here and eat your breakfast!" Goten came out of his room, his hair a mess and bags under his eyes. He looked like he hadn't been sleeping very well.
"I'm not hungry..." he said hoarsly. Chichi rushed over to him and felt his head. "Mom! I'm not sick! I'm just tired and... a little depressed..." Goku stood up and walked over to him.
"Is Trunks still not talking to you?" Goten shook his head.
"I would at least like to know what I did wrong..." said Goten sadly. Goku frowned.
"Give it another day, I'm sure he'll come around," he said, privately thinking that he would ask Vegeta about Trunks when he saw him today... if he saw him today...
"Kakarot!!" shouted an angry voice suddenly from outside. Goku smiled, knowing it well. The three of them ran outside and looked up, seeing Vegeta hovering in the air, arms crossed over his chest and smirking maniacally. Goku bit his lip excitedly, glad to know he kept his word, instead of blowing him off.
"Hey Vegeta!" said Goku. "What's up?" Vegeta's smile expanded, and he pointed at Goku with his index finger.
"We have unfinished business," he growled. "I'm not done beating the crap out of you!" Chichi glared at Vegeta.
"Why can't you leave him alone!?" she exclaimed. "He's on your side!" Vegeta spat at the ground. Goku turned to Chichi.
"Don't worry, Chichi," he said. "It's just a playful fight. He never does any real damage."
"I heard that!" shouted Vegeta, angrily.
"Goku, last time you two fought, you were hospitalized!" said Chichi.
"So, I'll be careful this time!" Goku said, and without another word, he followed Vegeta into the air and away from the house. Chichi sighed.
"He's going to end up dead someday... again..." she muttered to herself. Goten stared after his father and Vegeta as they left. He should've taken that chance to ask about Trunks.
"So where are we going?" Goku asked from behind Vegeta.
"I don't know," Vegeta replied. "I hate having to spend all of our time outside... but what with the girls home..."
"We should send them out on a shopping date," Goku suggested. "And we can get Goten and Trunks to hang out... what's been up with him, anyway? Goten has been all depressed because Trunks has been avoiding him."
"He's going through a very difficult time right now," said Vegeta. "Remember how I told you he was questioning his sexuality?"
"Yes," said Goku.
"Well, it's really taking a toll on his behavior," Vegeta continued. "If we can get Chichi and Bulma to go hang out for a few hours, I'll try and convince Trunks that the best thing for him would be to socialize." They passed over the area next to the ocean that they had fought at the other day. Vegeta stopped suddenly, and Goku ran into him. "Let's stop here."
"Why here?" Goku asked.
"Because," he said. "This is the area that you first practically expressed your attraction towards me." Goku smiled.
"Oh... right..." They descended to the grass, and Goku stared at the horizon. "Was planet Vegeta this beautiful?"
"No," Vegeta replied. "It was too industrialized. Of course, we didn't care about beauty." Goku looked down at him and smiled.
"So, when do I get to see you in leather pants?" he asked. Vegeta laughed.
"I don't even own leather pants," he said. "Besides, I haven't decided if you've been a... good boy or not." He looked into Goku's eyes, smirking. Goku bit his lip.
"Kiss me," he said automatically. Vegeta took a huge step away from him, but it was more playful than anything.
"Nah, I'm good," he said, smiling. Goku frowned, stepping closer to him.
"Why not?" he asked, pouting. Vegeta ran a few feet away from him.
"Show me how much you really want me, Kakarot!" he shouted. Goku blinked, watching him. He had never seen Vegeta in such a good mood. He smirked and readied himself to run after him.
"So you want me to catch you?" he asked, glaring playfully. Vegeta chuckled.
"If you think you can keep up," he replied. He disappeared completely. Goku looked around, but couldn't see him. He closed his eyes and began searching for his energy level. It was moving rather fast, so he could barely keep up with it. At last he was able to follow it and sensed it appear right over his head.
"Gotcha!" he said, and shot upward, missing Vegeta by an inch.
"Too slow!" he said with a laugh. "Come on, Kakarot! You can do better than that!" Goku blinked, reaching out and trying to grab his arm, but Vegeta dodged again. Goku suddenly dashed forward, knowing that he would dodge him, then appeared behind Vegeta. Just as he tried to grab him, however, Vegeta disappeared.
"Damn, Vegeta!" said Goku, laughing. "Have you been working on your agility or something?"
"Glad you noticed," said Vegeta, ammused. "I guess if there's anything I could beat you in, it'd be a race." Goku smirked and turned Super Saiyan. Vegeta laughed. "Have you forgotton, Kakarot?" He too turned into a Super Saiyan. "I'm also a Super Saiyan!"
"No, I didn't forget," said Goku with a smile, and went right up to Super Saiyan two. Vegeta frowned and met this level as well. They stared at each other, Goku smiling confidently. Vegeta glared.
"Don't you dare," he said threateningly. Goku's smile widened, and he powered up even further to Super Saiyan three. "Not fair! I haven't reached that level yet!"
"Then you better start running!" Goku replied with a soft laugh. Vegeta cursed and flashed away, and Goku chased after him. He almost caught up to him, but Vegeta increased his speed at the last second, and Goku missed. He chased him around the area for a good ten minutes, Vegeta still managing to avoid Goku, but with difficulty. Goku stopped, and Vegeta stopped a few feet away from him.
"Amazing," said Vegeta, panting. "Even a whole level higher than me, and you still can't catch me. You must not want me to kiss you all that badly then." Goku furrowed his brow, staring him down. Vegeta watched him carefully, ready to evade him again if he came at him. Goku closed his eyes and exhaled slowly. Vegeta tilted his head, wondering what he was doing. Suddenly, Goku clenched his fists and began powering up even more. He screamed, forcing his energy to go dangerously further. Vegeta's eyes widened, wondering if this was some sort of trick. He gasped as Goku suddenly began to grow a tail...
"What the hell!?" Vegeta exclaimed. The fur on Goku's tail was red as opposed to brown. It wasn't just the tail, though; other features began to change. His hair became black once again, but was still quite long and messy, and a coat of red fur grew over his chest an arms. His eyes turned yellow in color, and a thick red line outlined the outside of his eyes. Finally, Goku stopped powering up, his new transformation complete. Vegeta stared at him, mouth gaping open. "No..." Goku flashed in front of Vegeta and caught him by simply placing a hand on each of his shoulders.
"Caught you," said Goku softly. Vegeta's mouth was still hanging open. It took a few seconds for him to push any words out.
"You..." he started. "You... you bastard..." Goku blinked, frowning. "When the hell did you reach Super Saiyan four?"
"Just now..." Goku said, blinking. "This is the first time I've ever done it." Vegeta pushed him away suddenly, powering down back to normal. Goku frowned, powering down as well. He swayed slightly; reaching a new level of Super Saiyan drained a lot of his energy. They both returned to the ground, Vegeta crossing his arms and turning away from him. "Vegeta, what's wrong?"
"Now you're two levels ahead of me!" Vegeta shouted. "How the hell am I ever supposed to catch up to you!? I have been trying to reach Super Saiyan three for years!" Goku frowned and tried to take a step forward, but he suddenly felt dizzy, and his vision blurred. He fell forward onto the ground. Vegeta watched him angrily. "You deserved that," he said coldly.
"Vegeta..." said Goku weakly. "The only reason I did that was because I really wanted to catch you. Because I knew that if I did, it would show you how much I wanted you... I was doing it to please you, not to outshow you!" Vegeta walked over to him, still crossing his arms, glaring down at him.
"Can you get up?" he asked, still cold.
"No," replied Goku with a laugh. "I guess my body wasn't exactly ready to handle such power..." Vegeta sighed, kneeling next to him.
"Idiot..." He gently turned Goku over on his back, leaning down and kissing him gently. Goku smiled, lifting his hand with difficulty and placing it on the back of his head. Vegeta broke the kiss, smiling slightly. "I guess we have no choice but to lay here until you get your energy back." Goku laughed weakly, nodding. Vegeta laid next to him, staring at the sky.
"I promise I won't use Super Saiyan four unless I really need it," said Goku, observing the clouds.
"It's fine," said Vegeta, his smile fading. "It just means that I need to keep training. I miss my tail." Goku laughed again. They were quiet for some time.
"Look," said Goku after awhile. "That cloud looks like a dragon." Vegeta blinked.
"I see it," he said. "Look at the cloud next to it. It looks like a rabbit."
"Looks like the dragon is going to eat the rabbit," said Goku.
"No it's not!" said Vegeta quickly, and Goku laughed. Vegeta pointed to another cloud quickly. "Look, that cloud is a giant fish. It's going to throw itself in front of the dragon and sacrifice itself so the rabbit can get away." Goku was holding his stomach; it was hurting from how hard he was laughing.
"That cloud looks like a muffin," said Goku when he finally calmed down.
"That one right there looks like a tree," said Vegeta.
"There's an umbrella."
"That cloud looks like a shoe."
"That cloud looks like a cloud." Vegeta slowly looked at Goku, brow perked. Goku blinked and looked at him. They stared at each other, then they both burst out in laughter.Meanwhile, in the dark void of space lightyears away from Earth, a strange object raced through the stars. It was headed in the direction of Earth. Inside, a strange man slept with a slight smirk on his face.
With a twitch of his antenna, King Kai suddenly became aware of this approaching threat. He, of course, already knew about Goku and Vegeta's little affair, but chose not to say anything about it. Again, he remained silent. Perhaps it wasn't heading towards Earth at all... it was too soon to know for sure where this space craft was going, or who was inside it. All he knew, however, was that whoever was inside was definitely not a friend.
"Don't become too destracted, you two," he muttered to himself. "You need to keep alert... expect the unexpected."Back on Earth, the sun was setting. Goku and Vegeta were still laying in the grass, watching the sky change color. Goku was snuggled up against Vegeta; he had long since regrained his energy. Vegeta was frowning, watching the stars appear and stroking Goku's hair gently. Goku looked over at him.
"What's wrong?" he asked. Vegeta shook his head.
"Just thinking," he replied.
"About?"
"This... what we're doing..." Goku frowned, sitting up slightly.
"Are you rethinking this whole thing?" Vegeta sighed.
"I'm not rethinking it," he said. "I'm just... still very confused. Never would I thought I'd be doing this kind of thing with you. I still don't know if it's right."
"Vegeta..." Goku sighed, laying on top of him gently. "I know that it's wrong to decieve our wives like this... but I don't think it's wrong for us to be together. Now tell me the truth. How do you feel about me right now?" Vegeta was silent.
"I hate you," he replied. "But at the same time... I..." He sighed in frustration, trying to gather the courage to say what he was thinking.
"Go on," Goku urged, kissing the corner of his lips.
"I..." Vegeta started, but suddenly Goku's cell phone started ringing. Goku jumped, digging into his pocket and pulling it out.
"It's Chichi," he said, looking at the caller I.D. He answered it. "Hello?"
"Goku!" Chichi shouted. "Are you two almost done fighting! I'm getting worried!!" Goku blinked. He forgot that they were supposed to be fighting.
"Yes, I think we're just about done," Goku said quickly. "I'll be home in a few minutes."
"You better not be bleeding all over my floor when you get home!" Goku sighed and hung up the phone.
"God, she's annoying," said Vegeta.
"I know," said Goku, laughing. "But you gotta beat me up, Vegeta. She thinks we've been fighting." Vegeta blinked, then smirked.
"I have a better idea..." he whispered, and he suddenly pushed Goku off of him and pinned him to the ground. Goku exhaled sharply, watching him, wondering what he was going to do. Vegeta grabbed a handful of Goku's shirt, tugging and ripping it down the front.
"Vegeta...!" Goku exclaimed, frowning slightly. Vegeta smirked.
"Oh shut up," he said, ripping his sleeve. Vegeta placed his hand at Goku's neck and suddenly dug his nails into the skin. Goku winced, gasping with pain. Vegeta quickly swiped his hand, leaving long scratches on his neck, bleeding. Goku panted slightly, watching him. Vegeta then proceeded to scratching the exposed area of his chest, making Goku cry out in pain once more. Vegeta chuckled slightly.
"You're enjoying this, aren't you?" Goku asked, wincing as the cold air hit his open wounds.
"This was your idea," Vegeta replied. He continued placing scratches in areas that would most look like they were in a fight, each time causing Goku to make sounds of suffering. Finally, Vegeta got off him and stood up. "All done," he said. Goku stood with difficulty.
"Ow!" he exclaimed, as the act of standing stretched his wounds painfully. Vegeta laughed.
"You better get used to that kind of thing," he said. "You know what it does to me." Goku blushed, smiling.
"I don't know whether to be scared or turned on," he admitted.
"Let's go with all of the above," Vegeta replied. He gently touched Goku's palm with his hand. "Convince Chichi to call Bulma, okay?"
"I will," said Goku. "And hopefully I'll see you tomorrow." Goku leaned down to kiss Vegeta, but he placed a finger on his lips, stopping him.
"No," he said, smirking. "I want to make you wait." Goku pouted.
"Aw! Come on!" he whined. Vegeta chuckled and backed away, waving, then dashed off back home. Goku laughed, shaking his head. He officially decided that Vegeta was insanely cute when he was this happy. Goku flew back home, wincing as the wind violated his scratches. He got to his house and walked in, immediately seeing Chichi sitting on the couch, waiting for him.
