After school I went to my part time job. I work at my family restaurant and I get good pay. My parents make a lot of money because of this old place."Hey guy's!" I buzz in and throw my bookbag into a empty booth. I put on my black apron that had a few cake stains on it.
"Hey honey, how was school?" My mom asked every day after school. "Fine just like every other day." I sighed.
I didn't even bother to tell the about the new kid, what's the point? They're going to tell me to "stay away" from people like that.
"That's good." My mom said while mixing my grandmothers famous pasta. "Yeah." I washed my hands and dried them.
I stood in front of the cash register and waited for the customers to roll in, which did not happen. It was like the place was deserted.
"What's going on? Where is all the customers?" I asked and looked at my mom.
"I don't know, it's been like this all day, is it the food?" She took a whiff of the pasta she was stirring then shrugged.
"It's not the food," she said smelling it again. "We'll have we made anything?" I asked sounding really worried.
"Yeah, Mrs. Cole came over for a bite, and that's about it." My mom looked calm and collected, as if she didn't really care.
She was always like this. In situations she would just stay calm and not worry. That was pretty much her motto, "what good does in worrying honey?"
"How can you always be so damn calm, I mean look at this place, ghost town." I snapped.
"Hey, just chill the customers will be coming just relax." She raised a eyebrow at me signaling me to stop worrying.
"Ok, ok" I put my elbows on the granite countertop and put my chin in my hands.
I waited and waited. For about two hours I decided to check my lonely phone. One miss call from Selena and Two from Taylor.
"Hey phone up" my mom said popping her head right out of now where. I groaned in response and shoved my phone into my back pocket.
"Hey looks like we finally have that customer you were dying to have," she said and I looked up to see a hooded face.
"Hi" I said nervously. I tried to get a good look at his face but it wouldn't show. "Hi um can I get the," the hooded face paused for a second to gather his or her thoughts.
"Um the number 5 to go." He said then pulled his hood off his face. It was him. "Uhh uhh yeah sure!" I stuttered and walked to the kitchen.
"Umm mom we need a number 5 to go please" she smiled then nodded in response.
I walked back and peered over the corner to see what he was doing. He was looking around the restaurant like he has never been in one before.
"Umm will that be all?" I walked up to the cash register getting his attention. "Umm yeah.....I still haven't gotten your name?" He asked in more of a question.
"Oh it's Miley, Miley Mitchell." I smiled politely while calculating his transaction.
"Miley, I like that" he smiled then pulled out his wallet. "You know what? It's on me." I closed the register and got his bag.
"Are you sure? Business doesn't look like it's doing to great." He chuckled looking around again.
"I insist, on the house." I smiled and handed him his bag. He quickly smiled then left the restaurant.
I had this urge to go and follow him and see what he was up to. His smile can hide his true feelings. I looked behind me to see my mom giggling looking at her phone.
