My Old Best Friend

Chapter 2

Ian Tenner POV

"Moooommm!! I'm home!!!" I screamed as I entered the house. It's been 2 weeks since my mom cried, she can't accept that dad is cheating but I know it.
Because, I caught them one time.

FLASHBACK
I entered the house I opened my mouth to speak but then I saw a jacket on the couch......then a bra on the banister.....then dad's tie on one of the steps up the stairs.

'Holy. Shit.' I thought to myself and continued to advance up the steps. It lead to the guest bedroom.

"Oh my god Ryan!!" I heard a female voice call out it took me a whole to decipher it but it was Nancy's.

"Ugh Nancy" I head my dad say.

I shivered in disgust.

Then I had a brilliant idea to record them. Not a lot just a 20 second video to show mom when she was ready. If I was gonna tell her that the love of her life had another love of their life then I needed proof.

I pulled out my phone and pressed record then I quickly and quietly opened the door then I let my phone watch it but I made sure it was pointed at the right angle. Once I figured I had enough I left into my room and I stayed there until they were done and out of the house.

"I'm in the office sweetie!!!" She yelled at me. I said okay back and shook my head to put me back into reality then I picked up the mail and started sifting through it looking for any letter directed to me or mom. I them read one that had mom's old high school on it so I ran it up stairs to her.

"Here mom I found this for you from your old high school."

"Oh thank you honey." She took it from me but held it back to me. "Do you want to read it to me while I make some new recipes?"

"No thanks because you never pay attention to the letter when you are making new recipes you always go into your bakery world." I chuckled.

She laughed. "Alright then, I'll see you later." She got up and hugged me.

"Bye mom." I left the office and ran into my dad. "Father." I said and brushed past him. I went into my room and laid down closing my eyes that had been straining open for hours at school.

Then I heard someone walk into my room, "Can I help you?" I asked the person.

Not wanting to open my eyes I just listen for the voice. "Son I know why yo-"

"Please exit my sanctuary of solitude from non-committed people such as yourself."

"Not until you hear m-"

I sighed and sat up from my resting position. "Father, I know you know why I hate you. Now if you would just listen to me okay?" He nodded his head in understanding, sitting back on the chair. "You don't deserve mom. She deserves someone way better than you and your mistress. You think you're so better than everyone?" I started ranting at him not caring whomever hears. "If you don't fess up to my mother by my birthday I will show her the evidence that you have a mistress and you think I'm playing with you?? Try me father! I will mess your life up!! You leave my room and you never ever come back in here or I will disown you as a father."

He quickly left after that. I did not want his face in this room ever again. After he left I fell into a deep sleep.

I woke up to the sunlight hitting my window and someone shaking my shoulder. I looked over to see mom. "Hey mom what's up?"

"Well I have something to discuss with you."

"Sure. Take a seat mother." I gestured to the desk chair and she pulled it next to the bed.

"Well the letter was about my class reunion in California which means I'd have to leave you guys alone with your father and the business has to be closed for the week. How do you feel about that?"

"No. If you are leaving you are taking all of us."

"I can't take you guys. You have to stay and go to school. Promise me you will stay and go to school?"

"I promise. But I still don't want you to go."

"Yeah neither does your father."

"Why?"

"Because he is afraid that I'll run into my ex there."

"I hope you do." I said under my breath.

"What?"

"Nothing momma. You should go, see your old friends and make a trip out of it with Mandy James, you know your old best friend."

"Oh dear she wasn't just my best friend. She was my sister, but you do know she died a few years ago right?"

"Oh...yeah I guess I miss her."

"You're not the only one sweets....I miss her everyday of my life. She was always the one to make since of me and my life."

I put my hand on hers and looked at her. "Go mom. You go and tell people how successful you are and you make sure they know Mandy was a wonderful person."

She kissed my head. "I will sweetie. Are you gonna be okay with Sam?"

I nodded my head. "Yes mom. I'll makes sure she comes home and goes to school."

"Your father can do that stuff."

"I got it, mom. Don't you worry your pretty little head. Go on ahead and start packing."

"Alright dear. I love you."

"I love you."

I turned back around on my bed facing my poster covered wall, I part of me hopes her and her ex reunite at the reunion, but then there's the family oriented side that can't think of the site of that even happening.
