My Old Best Friend

Chapter 5

Harmony's POV

"Mom, can I ask you something?" Ian asked me.

I was holding Samantha in my arms. "Ask away."

"Why did you change your mind, you know about us coming?"

"Well your father thought it was best if I brought Sam but she can't be left alone. So I told him if I were to bring someone it would be you. Then of course Sammy here cried and cried until she couldn't anymore and I had to bring her."

"You think it was okay that dad has the house to himself?"

"Ian you really need to let go of it. He's not cheating on me, he is very much committed to the family as he is to me."

"Mom..."

"Ian please. He loves us."

"Then why did he make us go with you? Why didn't he want us to go to school like you wanted?"

"Because he wants someone to protect me."

"That's his job."

"Well he can't just leave the office for a week to come with me to the reunion. It's not a big deal."

"Mom it is."

"Go to sleep Ian." I brushed his hair out of his eyes and he laid his head on the window keeping his hand near us just in case. Ian is very protective over us, it's very sweet and funny that he won't admit that he loves Sammy as much as he loves me.

Once we got to the hotel we got adjoining rooms so I can have a room to myself, but the only time the kids should use their room is to sleep as far as entertainment; I would like them to stay near me.

Right now I'm dying to show them around the place and share stories of how I use to live and where I use to live. It being Friday I'm so glad that I can have some time with the kids even though I didn't think I would, I'm glad I'm having some.

"Alright so what do you guys want to do? Do you want to cross the bridge of where I use to cross to get to school or get some of the BEST Mexican food in the world....OH! I know you can meet your not cousin cousins!!!"

"Ugh are you sure?" Ian asked me.

"Yeah! Why wouldn't you want to walk and talk with dear old mother???"

"Well Sammy and I were just hoping that we can stay in today maybe get a bite and come back, we are kind of tired from the time change and stuff."

"You mean you're jet legged?"

"Yeah!"

"Alright you guys go sleep, call me if you need me I'm gonna go walk and stuff."

"Alright mom bye!"

I walked out calling my old friend who use to live here- not him -but Sarah my favorite blonde on the west coast.

"This is Pepperton, talk quickly I'm busy." She answered.

"Hey Sar!"

I backed my phone waiting her reaction, "Harmony Prescott?!?!" She screamed into the phone.

"Well its Harmony Tenner but yeah its me baby!!! I'm back!!!"

"We have to hang out, pronto, right now; old café, you, me, coffee, in 10 min be there!" She hung up before I got to respond. I called Ian to let him know where I will be then I started heading to the cafe which was thankfully 5 min away.

I started walking to my desired direction. When I suddenly bummed into someone and landed on my butt. "Oh goodness I'm sorry." I blurted out loud.

"It's no problem." A deep husky voice said back and handed a hand out to me.

I gratefully took it saying thank you then looking up at the man and in that moment I couldn't breath.

It's him ....

The same him I played house with when we were 5 ...

The same him I fell in love with but I was just is friend to him ...

The same him Ryan hates and a part of me will always adore ...

His eyes widened and whispered out, "Harmony."
