Harmony's POV

I was outraged with what Tim did. He's so aggravating I've only been in town for two days and he's managed to get on my nerves entirely. Maybe I didn't want to tell my kids how I was back then, given I was only five, maybe I didn't want to tell them. He knew I didn't want to and now they both know that he's my ex, I mean what are we 16 again?

If I don't want my kids to know something that doesn't matter they shouldn't know.

After dinner I called us a taxi and went home. The kids immediately went to bed and I'm just sitting here on the phone with my mom.

"He's so stupid mom!"

"Harmony you aren't a teenager anymore. You are what 30 something? You're an adult, honey, you need to face this like an adult."

"It's just I wish we ended things better than we did, you know? I got into college and we broke up. It's not okay to me, he said forever and when our childhood ended according to him so did our forever."

"Maybe he feels like he's wrong about it. You need closure. Get it."

"How?"

"I think you know how honey. Anyways I got to get to bed. I love you."

"Love you too momma. Bye." I hung up the phone with that and fell on top of my bed. I looked at my phone to check the time and it said 2am. I guess I'll just call him around 10 am instead, after that I curled up in my bed and fell asleep.

The Dream (which is also a memory.)

Little 5 year old Harmony is on her bike, biking around the block when she falls and scraps her knee.

"Are you okay?" A little 6 year old boy ran out of his house to her.

She shakes her head and hugs the little boy tightly.

"Shh it's okay." He coos her and strokes her head. "Its alright come on now."

She nods and stands with him. "I'm H-h-harmony." She hiccups out.

"Hi Harmony my name is Timothy."

Timothy walks her into his house and tells his mom what happened. He attempts to give her to his mom but she hid behind him and refused to move from him.

"Harmony you have to go get cleaned up."

"No! Not without you!"

"Are you okay honey?" Timothy's mom, Makayla asked and when she tried to reach for her she backed away and held Timothy's arm. "Okay let's go and clean you up and Tim can come with us, okay?"

She reluctantly nodded her head and while Makayla led the way she held Tim's arm and never took an inch away from him.

"You don't have to be afraid of her, Harmony." Tim whispered in her ear when she was sitting on the toilet waiting for Makayla to come back with bandages.

"I'm not. I'm a big girl Timmy!!"

He raised his arms and smiled. "Of course you are Har."

He began to walk away and she grabbed his arm. "Don't worry Har, while I'm in your life I'm not going to let anyone hurt you, okay?"

She nodded and he left then came back with a blue bunny for her to hold while his mom cleaned up her wound.

End of Dream.

I woke up to a knock on the door. "Coming!" I got up and put my hair in a bun before answering the door. "Can I-- Timothy?"

"We don't have to do formalities Har."

I sighed at his comment being too tired to even argue with him. "I'll make some tea if you want to come in."

"You still drink tea?" He walked in and sat on the couch.

"You don't?" I said as I plugged the hot plate in and put a pot of water on the plate.

"Of course not. I drink coffee because I'm a man."

"You're never going to be a man, Tim." I said as I sat across from him grabbing a pillow and holding it close to me.

"What are you talking about, I've been a man since the day I left my parents behind."

"They still working your case?"

"Yeah they were, they said I cant be a CEO of any type of company."

"Look at you now."

"Yeah I'm sitting on the couch of my best friend about to drink probably some over sweet lemon tea."

"Actually I've graduated from over sweet lemon tea to a simple watermelon lime tea."

"Is that so?" He laughs and I throw a pillow at him as I get up and pour the hot tea in mugs.

I walk back over to him with the tea and give him one. "Yeah it is."

He takes a sip of his drink and lets out a sigh of relief " You know if you could just be nicer to me this would be simple."

"Why would I be nice to you?"

"Because I'm your best friend." He chuckles and looks at me.

"You know why I resent you Timothy."

"Back to formalities, I see."

"It's the proper thing to do."

He nods and points to my left hand. "Who is it?"

I immediately hide my hand. "You know who it is. Gerald can't keep his mouth shut about anything."

He finishes the rest of his tea and delicately sets his cup on the table. "Why him, Harmony? I told you what he is and what he does. Why did you marry him?"

I cleared my throat. "Because....well I don't know he was there when you weren't."

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about the fact that at the end of Junior year you broke up with me then during the summer you refused to talk to me. You said that you needed space from me, then I met Ryan. He was sweet and kind then we broke up and you came back to me talking all this crazy stuff like he has 3 other girls and that it was a mistake to leave me and all of this insane stuff. So I go and confront him about it, right?" I look over my shoulder making sure not to wake them up. "Of course he denies everything and makes me feel stupid for even asking so I leave and I go to you and you tell me that thing you told me when we first met, I won't let anyone hurt you while I'm with you. Guess what? I believed you, I believed every stupid word you said and when I told you that I was going off to college you broke up with me. Then Ryan came back telling me the truth and saying that he stopped everything that he did back then." I finished trying to block out the tears that threatened to escape. "It wasn't worth the heartache."

"He's abusing you."

"Excuse me?"

"You have never ever acted the way no matter what. Now you're all like 'it's not worth the heartache'? That's not the Harmony I know."

"You broke that Harmony."

"She's still in there." He stood up, buttoned his jacket and started to the door. "I'm still keeping my promise. No one will hurt you while I'm here." I nodded at his comment and he left closing the door behind him.

I sighed out. "Gosh darn it, not again."
