1 mile to Los Angeles I grin wickedly. I can not wait to get my hands on that witch. Tobias has fallen asleep, and Audrey is chewing on KarKar's nose.

It's been a long trip, but with only two breaks , two Mt. Dews, a whole lot of crappy gas station food, and a big minivan, somehow, my I wish will finally come true.

I peer into the road as the sparkling sun rises on the approaching buildings. I smile, feeling a little bit of joy for a moment. As I drive in, the buildings grow around me, a jungle of small shops, skyscrapers and Christmas trees as large as twenty feet.

"Tobias, you better see this." I say, tossing a empty bottle onto his snoring self. Audrey tosses KarKar on him, and looks out the window. For a month old she is pretty engaged in the sights.

I drive through the maze of neverending streets, and get closer to the large apartment building from the package address. I start practicing the speech in my head.

Hello, so called MOTHER! You ruined my life by leaving me with a monster, so I'd like to inflict a little pain on your life. *slaps her*

Perfect. At least I thought so until I pulled into park and rethought the whole situation. "You ok Tris? You look a little scared." Tobias says, looking seriously into my eyes.

I shake my head, "It's ok, just, it's ok." I climb out of the minivan, grabbing my usual, necessary things, and look at the address once more, Apartment 4106.

Tobias comes out with Audrey 'eating' his shoulder, well, the burp cloth. "Come on." I say sternly, practically marching into the connected lobby.

An old, crusty woman sits by a desk, with papers scattered to and fro. I put on a pleasant mask,"Hello ma'am." I greet as we walk to the elevator. She grunts in response, giving us nothing more than a sideways glance.

I screw up my face, wondering what could make a person be so foul. "I found the wicked witch of the west!" Tobias whispers in my ear. I giggle loudly, earning another odd glance.

Audrey has fallen asleep once more in Tobias' arms, and I smile at her little chubby cheeks and wisps of blonde hair in a mangled mess. This is coming down to the moment, and something nice has to happen before this situation.

I press the button for floor 4, and Tobias holds me to his side. I sigh, breathing in his scent. A wave of relief washes over me, relaxing my tensed muscles and strained head.

"Almost time." He whispers in my ear, and kisses my forehead. I smile, kissing him back on the cheek.

The elevator dings, and we step out. I eagerly speed walk through the hall. 4103, 4106, 4016. As soon as I get there I slam my fist to the door. Audrey winces at the sound, opening her tiny eyes.

I feel a bit of regret, but have to brush it off as the door creaks open. I get ready to blow my top off, but am taken aback by the sight in front of me.

My mother, just like me. Light wrinkles line her eyes, and we have the same stormy- grey-blue eyes. She has a large white streak, and lines of grey through her once gorgeous Hazel-brown hair.

"M-mom?" I stutter as tears sting my eyes. Memories come flooding back, from that little time we had together. Then I remember, she left me with a monster.

I muster up all the strength I can, and slap her across the face so hard, you could hear it in New York.

She yells, stepping back to grip her face. I smirk, but Audrey stars wailing. I immediately take her from Tobias' arms as he examines my 'mother'.

I pat Audrey's back as she lay on my shoulder. Mo-Natalie stands up, still clutching her now swelling face. "I-I deserved that." She mutters.

"B-but please come in! I can explain!" She says, touching my opposite shoulder of Audrey, then, as if on cue, notices her laying on my shoulder. "Oh! Oh my! Is this my grandbaby?" She says.

I nod sternly, as she looks with awe. "So that must be your fiancé, or husband." She glances at our rings," Either way you scored!" She says. I can't help but let out a little giggle. Natalie smiles, and we actually walk inside.

I'm not surprised by the tidiness of the small apartment. Tobias and I sit on the couch, and Natalie sits across from us on a large, plush chair, pressing a frozen water bottle to her cheek.

"Well first, I'm sure you are wondering how I got your address." She says, playing with her fingernail. I hadn't thought about that before, and now it makes me furious. My arm tenses, but Audrey giggling calms me down fast enough.

I let myself stiffly nod, and Natalie smiles, "Your father told me." I frown at the mention of his name. "How did he know where I moved?"

She shrugs, lowering her arm from the lump blooming from her cheek. "The day before he got killed, he called me, and said you were happy in a new home with your fiancé. I was pleased, but he said he would not talk to me for a long time after that. He-he said he was after you." Natalie says with a shiver.

My body fills with immense anger, but Tobias rubs my arms to keep me calm. I feel as if I'm a boiling pot, about to spill over at any moment.

"W-well why did you just send a care package then?" I stutter. She smiles,"Did you look in the pack n play package?" Tobias hops up, walking to it, as we rolled the pack n play in with us.

He removes the cover, and a gun slips out. I frown again," If you would protect me now, then why leave me with the monster? Why leave me to a life of scars!" I say, trying not to raise my voice enough to irritate Audrey.

"I-I didn't think he would beat his own child!" She exclaims. My expression softens. She didn't know. She loved me. My mother loved me.
