Chapter 4

The room was silent, which wasn't unusual. When you brief a team on a mission, you usually get silence. Ryker knew all about it.

The golden eyed girl sat to his right, faithfully watching him without hesitation at the job. This was not her first mission, and definitely not the worst thing she has done.

His curly red haired best friend sat on his left, watching the rest of the team with piercing eyes. Bacon trusted his leader and never really fought against him.

"So you're telling me, that we are going to infiltrate a Syndicate headquarters, one of four, and destroy it. Maybe in our usual flaming way? Please tell me I got all of that right?"

Pyro growled a little amazed at the insane mission, running his hands over his flame tattoos.

The others shook their heads, surprised that their leader would think of such a ludicrous mission. Usually the missions weren't located so far away, when they were, it was over something very small. Not Syndicate headquarters.

"No, you got that alright. The team is Petra, Keet, Dane, Ari, Lee, West, Pyro, and Bjorn. I know it's a small group, smaller than normal for such a huge mission. But i'm confidant that we can get it done. We leave tomorrow, come get your mission suits and weapons, then get some food and go to bed. Meeting dismissed. Night troops." Ryker spoke the usual nightly routine.

"Night boss."

The group followed their leader to a large room full of their black suits with red veins. Most already knew their size and were in and out quickly. The only one left was Petra. Since she was new, her size still wasn't known yet.

"Alright Petra, mind if I measure you?" Ryker respectively asked.

Petra nodded and held out her arms. Her stomach had filled in, thankfully she wasn't as skinny as she was. Now she had some muscles built on her previous ones. Weirdly, her skin still kept the unnatural pale sheen, but it nicely complemented her purple hair.

"M'kay, let me see. I think this'll work."

Ryker pulled out a slim suit and handed it to Petra. "Try it on then if I need to I can make adjustments."

As an answer to her unasked question, he turned around and waited. Petra dressed as quickly as she could, knowing that Ryker won't peek, but him still being a male unnerved her. She hated these situations, sadly having been in many.

"Alright."

Petra's voice was shaky, she hated how she was nervous. Ryker turned around and looked at how her suit was fitting her. He then grabbed a few helmets and carefully slid them onto her head, over her purple hair, trying on a few and making sure her head would be protected.

"There, perfect. Now let's go eat and then you can go sleep. We leave pretty early in the morning, usually wake up at 0600 hours and leave at 0700. Get dressed then we can go."

This time Ryker left the room, making Petra relieved at not having to be in such an awkward environment. She changed and grabbed the helmet, suit, and two bars. Petra walked out and followed Ryker to the dining room.

Even though Petra has been here for a few weeks, it's still hard to navigate the labyrinth of hallways and rooms. Ryker knew every door, every hallway, every closet in The Hub.

When they came into the dining room, they saw all of the team already there and eating. The pair sat down and quickly began to eat. Rhea flitted over to Petra and struck up a conversation.

West waltzed into the kitchen with a happy Chess in tow. He smiled at everyone before pulling Chess into his lap. He buried his nose into her hair and welcomed the intense lull he got whenever he took a whiff of her mouth-watering scent.
