Chapter 6
"You are going to fall off that scaffolding and die! When your dead body lands on the ground, I will dance around you chanting with never ending prattle, 'I told you so'. When we bury you, on your epitaph will be the words, 'This idiot died because he wouldn't listen to his best friend'. Then I will dance on your grave and sing to my hearts content about how bloody stupid you were!" A furious skinny, red headed boy screamed at the top of their lungs.
The boy with the lightning eyes and midnight hair rolled his eyes and only proceeded to climb higher. Ryker looked upon his city, Tanzanite, cloaked in the darkness of the night. His soft, black clothes blocked the chilling November air as he only proceeded in climbing higher.
Bacon growled angrily and followed his best friends up the side of the undone skyscraper. His idiot of a best friend never did listen to him, probably because his friend was the leader of a large rebellion. But when your best friend does something reckless, the only plausible thing to do is follow.
"You, are the most idiotic, stubborn, deceiving, bastard that has ever graced this earth. Did you know that, jackass?" Bacon grumbled, nearly slipping and falling to his demise.
Ryker grabbed his ankle but didn't pull him up just yet. Instead he let the poor boy hang as he held him up, his boots thankfully having a secure grip on the beam.
"Did you know that you are an annoying, over inflated, clown? Now, do you want me to pull you up, or do you want to fall and splatter on the pavement like a water balloon?" Ryker teased Bacon, wishing he could see through the black of the helmet to see Bacon's red face. Bacon made a weird croak and tried to claw his way up.
"Curse you and your inhuman grip. Pull me up or I'm going to bash your head in when I die."
Bacon sounded like he was nauseated, trying not to throw up. Ryker chuckled and pulled his friend up, watching as Bacon shook his head to clear the slight fuzziness in his head.
"Do you really think you would be able to come back from the dead? Nah, you're too weird to come back." Ryker chuckled, crouching on a i-beam.
"Screw you." Bacon groaned, rubbing his head.
Ryker just smirked and continued to climb higher up the scaffolding. His strong limbs allowing him to gracefully scale the building without a problem. Bacon had trouble following so easily. Yes, he has been doing this nearly his entire life, but it doesn't mean his body likes to hold onto the muscle, much less have any muscle memory.
"You sir, are easily the worst person I have ever encountered. Though, I haven't met Sonders yet." Bacon growled, or at least attempted to while panting like a dog, trying to keep up and not fall behind.
"Ah, how sweet you are." A patronizing voice sounded from above the boys.
Both boys spun and saw a trio standing above them. The pair froze in panic, not fear. The people above them shouldn't be there, not even within the same sector. Ryker thanked both Rhea and Chessie who begged the boys to wear a helmet and completely cover their body. Ryker also had his poles and a pistol strapped to his body, ready to be taken out at a moment's notice.
"Sonders, what a surprise? What brings you down to the poor sector?" Ryker said in a light conversational tone, betraying his deep rage.
