"Katara!"
Pa was worried. He had frown marks painted on his forehead, his eyes were a dark blue, hidden behind strands of lose hair and his breath came in long deep breaths, in and out.

"What is it dad you only look like that when its serious."
I kiss his forehead and walk over to where the drinks where, pulling out a whiskey.

Children where taught to drink alcohol a young age and it was perfectly normal for a 16 year old to do this.

I sit down on a cushion, cross legged waiting for the 'important' news.

"Katara... as you know... we have been close with the Fire Lords family for many years."

"Yes.."

"Um.. so..."

The suspense is killing me what is it?

"What is it dad?"

"We need you to marry Zuko, to keep alliances straight, the earth kingdom is getting fidgety with secret letters from Queen Lu Su Qian being sent to warehouses in the lower ring, the deaths have increased there and we want to keep you and Zuko safe,"

What? Why would he do this to me? I can feel the sweat building on my forehead, my nose flaring,

"Wait, what? Marry Zuko? Seriously? Is that even legal? Dad do I have a choice? Let me answer that. No I don't. 'The earth kingdom is getting fidgety' What the hell! What does that have to do with us?"
"Katara, please! We don't have a choice-"

I was so angry, he cant just ask me- no force me to marry Zuko! I was supposed to marry one of the Loomis brothers- Khuan, Ghian, Marco, Lenno or Ofero
not some Fire bending kid!

"I don't have a choice, there is no we about it Dad!"

"Zuko is a nice boy!"

"Khaun is a nice boy, Sokka is probably a nice boy, Ghian is a nice boy, I'd be a nice boy!"

"I know that but I'm trying to reason with you!"

He wipes his brow, the vein now more prominent on the side on the side of his face, I don't mean to be difficult but I wasn't really fond of the idea of leaving everything I knew for some letters in a completely different country.

"I don't want to be reasoned with! Its not every day your dad asks you to marry some childhood friend for some letters!"

"Imagine how warm it will be!"

"I like the cold!"

"Of course you do that's all you have ever felt!"

Pa was on a losing streak, this is my time to make him change his mind!

"Well we are on an ice berg!"

"Katara-"

"Dad this isn't fair!"

"I know its not, do you think its easy on me?"

Never mind, He always knows what to say, even when he has no chance.

"I-I-"

"Katara, if you wont do it for yourself then do it for your people, your mother, me, Sokka, Gran-Gran and Pakku in the Northern Water Tribe! Please Katara we need you to do this, all of the next generation and this generation is counting on you!"

My people are important to me,

"Dad-"

"Ursa and Ozai are like your second parents and Zuko is like another brother, please do this for them and for your Tribe, go to the Fire Nation and live a paradise most girls would only ever dream of!"
