I don't want him to leave me. Anyone, just not him. But that night he did leave, just like Mother did.
I woke up a sudden. Gasping for air, it was just a dream. Just a dream. I slowly got out of my warm bed to get a drink of water. Before I left, I lit a candle and grabbed it with me. I opened the door, making loud creaks. The hallway was pitch black. No candles lit. Scared, I slowly walked down the ever so slightly creaking wooden floor.
"Hello?"
I called out, hoping a guard would reply. But my voice just echoed, down the long, dark hallway.
"Is anyone here?"
I called out once again.
"Hello?"
Still no reply. Terrified, I started speeding up my pace. My breathing got heavier. I heard whispers, chanting,
" Runnnn.... He's behind you... Ruuuuun..."
I didn't want to look back. It's dark. Too dark.
"No... No. No! No!!"
I screamed in fear. As I turned left, I ran into something. It was dead cold. It was him. He was going to get me back for what I did. Screaming my loudest, I managed to throw a few of my weak punches and kicks while screaming,
"No! Let me go! I'm sorry for what I did, I truly am! Just please please let me go---"
Something icy covered my mouth, muffling my words. I heard a very familiar voice.
"Shhhhh! Princess, what on earth are you doing?!"
It was Koha. Tears streamed down my face.
"K-Ko-Koha! What are you doing?! Why are you so cold?! Why are there no guards on duty?! Tell me---"
He shushed me.
"I was outside for a jog. Also, starting today is Kazoku Jikan, you know, the holiday where everyone has the week off to spend with their family. Everyone. From soldiers to merchants, to generals of great armies to guards of the palace. I suggested at least 30 guards and soldiers to stay and protect the palace, but I have no control over Kazoku Jikan."
I sighed, seeing that there was no reason to fuss over such small things. But... The voices...
"Oh yeah, I forgot. They left a few hours ago, after that party, right?"
Koha nodded.
"But Princess, why are you up so late? It's past your bedtime."
I was just about to protest I don't have a "bedtime", and that its for children. But with one swoop, Koha lifted me up. (you know, the romantic way)
"W-w-wa-what are you d-doing, Koha?!"
"Bringing you back to your room, Princess."
The way Koha replied like it was nothing pissed me off. As I was just about to tell him to let me down and that I could walk, he suddenly turned a right near a potted plant.
"Hey, now what are you doin---"
I was cut off my his face centimeters away from mine. I heard him breathing, and I smelt what seemed like light lavender, with honey.
"Princess, please be quiet."
His soft whispering voice and his lips so close to mine made me nervous. I felt my face get hot. As I stayed in the exact position, staying quiet, Koha finally let me down. Kneeling, he closed his eyes, looking at the floor.
"I appologize for the way I acted. I will tell you why I have done what I have done in your room, if that is ok with you."
Koha always sounded too official when apologizing to me, or anyone in fact.
"Sure."
He nodded and I started to head back to my room. Thanks for reading the first chapter and the suspense shall continue.
