Hurt

I sat on the soft, green grass and fiddled with a leaf. I mean, how possibly long could it take to get supplies?

Really long.

The entire time, merchants and people passed by while I stood from afar admiring their merchandise and just how they can walk freely without worrying about someone attacking them.

I found a little dirt patch earlier and grabbed a stick, drawing in the dirt. And here I still am, drawing. I haven't got a clue of what time it is. Looking up at sun through the leaves, it looked a little past noon.

I think I eventually fell asleep, because the next thing I know, Koha is next to me, poking my face. I slapped his hand and opened my eyes."That's really annoying." I said."Less annoying then you talking." He fired back."Anyways," I sat up straight."What took you so long?" He shrugged."You tell me."

I hit him on his shoulder and was about to say something, but I noticed a small bag and something rolled up behind him. Pointing at the bag, I asked,"What's in that?" Koha smiled mischievously and grabbed both items from behind him. He unzipped the bag, dumping all the contents out on the grass.

There were matches, a blanket, a pot and pan, 2 bowls, 2 water bottles, a compass, a cloak, towels, and a quiver full of arrows with a bow."And this is a sleeping bag." Koha pointed to the rolled up thing."Where's mine?" I asked."We're sharing one." He replied simply."Oh. Ok." I said back, not realizing what I've gotten myself into."Wait. What?! No! I'm not going to be sharing a sleeping bag with you!"

"That's what I thought too, but those things costed more than I thought, and plus, we can conserve heat." He said and I groaned. "Noooooo..." Koha shrugged."You know, if there was a complaining contest somewhere out there, they would probably say,'No pros allowed.' You're just that good."

I gasped and smiled with a eyebrow raised."At least I'm good at something, unlike you." Koha began to put everything back in the bag and replied,"You wanna bet on that?"

For the next hour or so, Koha and I were in the woods, having random contests. The ones we've had so far were a running, a staring, a strength, a arm wrestle, a aiming, and a jumping. All of which Koha won. But I actually surprised myself when I almost won the running and the aiming one.

I don't think it's very fair, seeing that Koha has had intense training to be my bodyguard. He's no doubt stronger than me, I've never had any training for strength before in my life. Everyone just expected me to be guarded forever, which is still happening... But I'm honestly sick and tired of people having to protect me, I don't want to be some delicate glass that everyone is protecting. I want to be strong on my own. I don't want to always be behind someone. I want to be next to them.

Alright, enough of my talking. Moving on to what we're doing right now. If I recall correctly, we were heading northwest to this really old man who Koha apparently says is very intelligent. "How old is he?" I asked. "Ok, don't laugh when I say this or else I'm gonna beat your ass." He warned. I nodded, but knew that I was going to laugh.

"The old man is over 100. Go ahead and guess the rest." I saw a grin tugging at the end of Koha's mouth, and I couldn't resist laughing."What's so funny? All I told you was that he's over 100. Now just try guess his age." I eventually decreased my volume of laughter, but still continued to giggle. He couldn't be that old, could he?
"Is he 110?"
"Nope. Higher."
"115?"
"No."
"130?"
"No, still higher."
"150?"
"Higher."
"160?!"
"Close."
"What the fuck?! Is he a goddamned turtle?!"
"He's 164, in a couple of days he'll turn 165."

Whoever this man - no, turtle is, he must be on his deathbed! He is damn old."Whatever you do, make sure to be very proper, no joking around when we see him." Koha told me in stern tone."Why not?" He looked at me in disbelief."Just... Just do it. I'm sure he'll... Never mind, back to the directions."

I was completely bewildered. Who is this turtle? Why are we going to him and not someone else that's not over a century old? Why do I have to be serious around him? Well, he is old I guess. I swear, he is going to die on his birthday seeing how old he is.

"So since we're about 2 miles off the outskirts of Sibru, which is about 60 miles away from the old man, I'd say in about 3 days we'll get there." I nodded in agreement."I didn't know you could calculate things like that, Koha." I teased."You'd be surprised of the things I learned in those classes for you." He countered."Aww, that's so sweet of you. Just for me." I sneered at him.

My throat was really dry by the time we set up camp. Koha passed me my water bottle and he set everything down after. "There should be a creek nearby. Go and check. I'm going to get a fire ready." I nodded and went where he pointed to. I saw it right away after walking past the pine trees where we were camping. It was beautiful, so peaceful. The water was very clear, and you could see the rocks and leaves embedded at the bottom. There were many flowers surrounding the edge, and moss on the rocks.

I grabbed a few sticks laying around for the fire and went back to camp to tell Koha. When I walked past the bushes, He had already prepared the rocks around the fire and was sharpening a stick on one end."What're you doing?" I asked as I pulled the sticks I gathered into a pile next to the rocks for the fire."I just got bored." He replied, not looking up from the stick.

My stomachs grumbled, and I was sure he heard it."Y-you didn't hear that!" Koha stood up and said,"Well, it's about time we get dinner." He walked to the creek and I followed behind. My feet ached, we've been walking for so long."Hey Koha?" I asked quietly."Yeah?" He replied without looking back.

"Can you teach me how to use the bow and arrow sometime?" I asked. I need to at least know how to protect myself without being in someone's way for them to protect me.

"Why would you want to learn that?"

"Cause I don't want you to get hurt to protect me." I replied."I don't want to rely on you all the time." I could feel that my cheeks were getting hot, and I lowered my eyes to the ground. I waited for him to reply, but he didn't. I was about to look up, but I was then hugged by him. I felt my shoulders stiffen, and I was about to protest but Koha cut me off.

"I wouldn't mind getting hurt for you."
