Senza's POV
"What? One of us-"
Koha cringed.
"I don't want to do this either!...but we need to bring you to safety."
The room went silent. Cleo looked shocked, which Koha just stood there. The silence continued until Koha spoke .
"I'll be the de-"
"I'll be the decoy."
We both looked at Cleo.
"I'll be the decoy."
"What? No, Cleo. You don't have to be! I am obligated to protect Princess Senza, so I should be the one to be the decoy!"
"Exactly."
"What?"
"Since you're her protecter, you have to be by her side at all times, am I correct?"
"Yeah...?"
"That means you can't be the decoy or else that means you will disobey your orders of protecting her. Me on the other hand, my duty was to just serve this kingdom, do what is right. And in this situation, me being the decoy is the right thing to do."
Koha looked wide eyes at him, but then broke out into a smile.
"Knew you'd have it in you, Cleo."
He slapped him on the back before walking over to me. Koha took off my cape and handed it to Cleo.
"Use this, and don't show you face. I'll meet you outside of the gates."
Cleo nodded and put my cape over himself. He was about to open the door but Koha stopped him.
"Come back alive."
Cleo didn't need to turn around.
"Right back at you."
With that, he ran out of the room. After a second, Koha lead me out the back door of the room. We leaned into the cold wall, trying to stay out of sight. When we turned the corner, I saw Cleo out of the corner of my eye, turning the opposite direction of us.
"HEY! There she is!"
The guards found "me".
Cleo ran forwards from the opening path and ran towards the inner gates, with the guards behind him.
"Nows our chance."
Koha held my wrist and led me through some bushes. I looked back to see what was going on.
Mistake.
Somehow, perfectly timed, as soon as I turned around, I saw Cleo getting pierced by 4 arrows. I suddenly couldn't move. I froze in place.
What have I done? If I had just let them capture me, he wouldn't have to die! I need to go back.
I tried to get out of Koha's grip, but the more I tried, the more hard he held on- to the point of unbearable pain.
"No... Don't go back. We...we need to keep moving. His death can't be in vain."
His voice quivered as he finished, and I knew he was crying. I finally gave up.
"Let's go then, Koha."
He nodded willingly. As we ran towards the outer gates, I didn't bother to look back again. We were breathless when we reached the outer gates. As we were about to continue, Yuu stopped us.
"Where are you going, Princess Senza and Koha?"
I didn't say anything, neither did Koha.
"I'm afraid that we'll have to take you."
Several guards ran out from a corner, surrounding us completely.
"Why are you doing this?"
Koha demanded as he scanned our surroundings.
"Justice. Now get them, guards. I want them alive... Or dead."
Yuu broke out into a wicked smile, and looked straight into my eyes. The guards closed in on us, and Koha whispered into my ear.
"Do you see the bags of flour near that wall? I'll distract the guards. You just try to cut open one, and throw as much of it as you can at the guards. I'll go in from there."
He reached into his pocket and slipped a small pocket knife into my hand. I nodded, but felt unsure. The plan went into action when Koha attacked a guard. I sprinted towards the bags, and swiftly cut one open. Flour flew everywhere, but I picked up the bag anyways. Doing so, over half just suddenly dumped out. But I continued to carry the rather heavy bag and passed it at one of the guards chest forcefully. I heard the guard groan, and before I could do anything, white covered all of our surrounding. It was like mist, but mist that you choked on.The guards were coughing, and I waited for the rest of the plan to play out. But it didn't. I waiting for what felt like eternity, and the flour was beginning to settle. I started to panic. At this rate, we were going to get caught.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the flour, and past the gates. My eyes were watering, but as they recovered, I realized we were outside the palace. "Koha?" I managed to choke out. I heard a low grunt. My eyes began to catch on, pick up on my surroundings.
We were running on a gravel path, the tiny pebbles crunching under our feet as we fled for our lives. From afar, I heard the guards shouting," Get them!"
But the shouting got more distant as we ran more and more. After what felt as hours, we finally stopped running. Hiding behind trees and thick bushes, we started to regain our breath. "We...need to... Make a detour." Koha said between breaths. I nodded. We stood up again, and decided to head for Sibru, a town close by. Heading west, the sky got darker by the second.
"Where will we stay?" I questioned. I definitely didn't want to sleep outside. Too mug creepy crawly animals. "Out here." He replied. "No, no- I mean, we...should find shelter! A hotel maybe?" Koha turned around and looked and nodded enthusiastically. "Yup, yeah! Of course. We will definitely find a 5 star hotel for the Royal Blood to sleep in. Yeah, for sure- we are in the fucking middle of the damned forest, can you not see that? Maybe the flour got to you."
"Sheesh, you don't have to be so rude." I mumbled back with little confidence he would listen. "Me?! Rude?! Well excuse me, but if it wasn't for me, you would've been dead back there." Our voices were getting louder." It wasn't just you!" I quieted down." Cleo too."
"Well why can you not just be a rude, little snotty brat?! Why can't you act like a real princess and actually achieve your destined goals?!" Koha snapped back. I couldn't take it anymore." Well why can't you not be such a shitty and bossy person!" I snapped at him. After that, I didn't even listen to his reply before storming off. I had no idea where I was going to go, but just somewhere, that's not near him.
