Senza's POV
I stomped off with my chest in pain. I'd rather die than spend another day with him! As I continued to walk, I found myself in front of a creek. It was very calming, with the soft chirps of the crickets in the background. I sat on a fallen tree, and just thought about Yuu. Why would he do that? All that stuff.
As my mind wandered, my stomachs was grumbling. The last time I ate was yesterday, dinner. It was already sunset. Maybe I should go back to Koha, he'll provide me with all the things I need- wait no! I'm mad at him right now. I can't do that.
I began to have a conflict in my head, whether I should go back or not. You really should go back. You'll get food, and you won't die. No! Don't, he'll know you're very weak and you can't be independent.
Groaning in pain of my headache, I grabbed a rock resting nearby and chucked it in the creek. I got off the fallen tree and decided to head back. Retracing my steps, I went back to where I last seen Koha. Surprisingly, the sun set very quickly and it was pretty much dark out now. I saw very bright light, probably a fire. Wait- a fire?!
I ran up to Koha."What are you doing?!" He looked up, confused."What? I... I'm making a fire?" I shook my head." Do you want to give our position away?! Smoke! Do you have a death wish?!" I yelled wide eyed, pointing at the smoke drifting above.
Koha sighed."If it's not the smoke that's giving our position away, it's gonna be your damned loud mouth. And also, the smoke won't be giving our position away. Tell me, what am I using to fuel the fire?"
I looked at him with my eyebrows raised."Seriously? Wood. Why would you-" He cut me off." Tch. Yes, wood, but it's dry hardwood. It creates less smoke than wet woods and softwoods, like pine. Now have you ever made a fire with pine needles? Ho! That could make a freaking flare!"
I was about to say something, but he continued." Also, take a look at where the fires smoke is going." I reluctantly shifted my eyes to follow the path the smoke was taking." It's... It's going up to the trees...?" He nodded enthusiastically." Exactly. The smoke is going to the trees, so by the time it gets into the sky, it'll be already dispersed by having to waft through the branches. And therefore, our position will not be given away." He did a little bow and I burst out laughing.
"Awesome, Koha, when we are in such a crucial moment, you'd be teaching me how to not give your hiding spot away with smoke from the flames of a fire. But..." I lowered my voice. "You aren't mad from before?" He tilted his head."From before?.... Oh. Not really."
I sighed in relief. From now and on, I'm going to try and not fight with him."...Sorry." I admitted. "You better be!" He said as he walked over to me. He lifted up his arm, and I flinched.
Koha lightly hit my head."Ow! My hand! How fucking hard is your damned head?!" I giggled."Pretty hard. Plus, where are we sleeping tonight?" He pointed next to a tall pine tree."Right there." I groaned."Nooo..." He shrugged innocently."When we're in town tomorrow, I'll buy a sleeping bag or something."
I sat on the soft grass next to the pine tree, and leaned against it. This was going to be a rough night. Koha was sitting in front of the fire, and the fire casted a shadow of him that covered me. I looked slightly up and saw stars, everywhere."You looking up at the sky?" Koha questioned.
"Yeah." I replied softly. Now neither one of us was talking, the only sounds were the crackling of the fire and the crickets chirping from a distance. My eyes slowly closed as I decided to reflect upon my day.
Well, let's see where to start. The priest and everyone else went ballistic, Cleo and Koha jumped in to save me from them, we got chased down by crazy guards, Cleo volunteered to be the decoy, and he died doing so.
We managed to escape into the western forests, and we plan to head to Sibru tomorrow. I wonder what time it is right now... My mind wandered off.
I felt a cold breeze go through my clothes, and I shivered. My eyes opened on their own, and I saw what remained of our fire. Just charcoal, with barely visible embers.
My neck hurt, and I realized I was leaning on Koha's shoulder. I tensed up, and felt my cold cheeks burning up despite the cold breeze. I tilted my head up, and saw his head leaning on tree with his mouth opened. When I saw a small stream of drool dripping down his cheek, I giggled.
"Huhhh...?" Koha opened an eye and looked at me. "Wha?... Mhmm- oh shit." He abruptly sat up straight. "Aw fuck. I fell asleep." He shook his head and stood up, wiping the corner of his mouth. "You tell not a soul of this, ok?" I laughed."Can't promise that!"
Koha stomped out what remained of the fire, and ran his hand through his hair. "We gotta go." I nodded and got up, brushing myself off.
"Which way is west?" I inquired."That way." He pointed the opposite way of the sunrise, which was likely east. I stretched out my arms and legs, they ached from being in the same position over night.
"What time is it?" I asked out of curiosity."Eh... I would say about 6:30-ish." Koha began walking."Are we in a hurry?" I asked."Kind of?" He replied.
I decided to annoy him. I knew he didn't like answering a lot of questions, and I've been asking a lot since we woke up.
"Then should we run?"
"We just woke up."
"But won't the guards be on our tail?"
"True... Then we shall run."We started running, the crunching of dirt and leaves. Between breaths, I stared asking again.
"How long are we going to run for?"
"Seeing our locations... Another hour or more."
"Are we going to get caught?"
"I don't know."
"Can we eat?"
"No."
"Are we ever going to go back to Vana?"
"Maybe."
"Can we take a rest?"
"Sure."We stopped running. I caught my breath and we both started walking. I continued my annoying questions.
"What season are pineapples in?"
"I have no clue."
"It's around late April?"
"Yeah."
"How long till' we get there?"
"Another hour."
"How much more do we have to walk?"
"I'm not sure."
"Have you ever been to Sibru?"
"Yeah."
"How does it look?"
"Ancient."
"When were you there?"
"When I was younger."
"What day were you born?"
"May 26."
"Do you know what day mine is?"
"December 7."
"How do you know?"
"I honestly don't know."
"Are you good at math?"
"Kind of."
"History?"
"No."
"Languages?"
"No."
"Science?"
"Yeah."
"Are you smart?"
"Smarter then you."
"Hey! That's pushing it!"
"Then stop asking these pesky-ass questions."
"I can say whatever I wa-"I was cut off by Koha pushing me into a nearby bush. I tripped over, and landed behind it. My arm hurt like fuck, and I think I tripped over a root. "What the fuck was tha-" once again, cut off. "Shut up." He said in a low voice. I raised my eyebrows. I was about to say something, but I heard armor clanging nearby, and shouting.
Koha pushed my head down. From the distance, we heard them talking. Probably troops or guards, on the hunt for us. "They can't be far from here! Search!" I let out a exhale when they ran past us. Koha put a finger on his shut mouth. If you make another damned noise, I will rip your head off and give it to the fucking guards. Is what the message was.
We waited there for rather long, probably just so that the guards would pass. By the time we got up, Koha said that it was 8:00. We waited for so long. We then proceeded to walk for oh so long, and by the time we were at the town's outskirts, my legs burned from running and walking uphill.
"Is this it?" I asked Koha. "Yeah." He replied simply."You stay out here, incase something happens. The latest I'll be out is noon. Stay out here, keep yourself occupied with something. But hide and be quiet at all costs."
With that, he left me. "What?!" I yelled. "You're just gonna leave me here?" I sighed loudly and sat behind a tree couple dozen yards away. This was going to be boring.
And that wait was boring, I'll try and type faster :p
