Senza's POV

Time flies by really fast when your trying to do something, doesn't it? For what seemed like a week, turned into a month. Now it's June 10. I felt butterflies gathering up in my stomach. Tomorrow would be my 15th birthday. Hundreds of citizens (that have permission) would be in the palace, 2/3 I wouldn't know who on earth they are.
"Heyyyyyy~~~"
I rolled my eyes and looked at who was sitting besides me, Jirro, my annoying nephew.
"Jirro, will you just give me time to study?"
"Nope, its going to be your birthday tomorrow, so ya gotta have fun, Senzy!"
"And can you please stop calling me Senzy? It's getting really annoying."
"Make me."
I smirked and laughed.
"You want to play that game, don't you? Well two can play that game."
I clapped twice, signaling a guard to come in.
The door slid open.
"How may I help you, Princess?"
"Could you please get this brat out of my studying room? He's being a nuisance."
"Right away, Princess."
"He-hey!!! you can't do that to me!!!"
"Princesses orders."
The guard grabbed Jirro by his wrist, and dragged him out.
"HEY YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME!!!! YOU FILTHY PEASANT GET YOUR DAMN HANDS OFF ME!"
I rolled my eyes. I watched as the guard dragged him out. I closed my eyes until I couldn't hear anything but the distant chirping birds. God, he is annoying. While I continued studying, the letter popped back into my head. I've been trying to figure who wrote it, and what they mean. But I just don't know. I shook my head. I need to focus on my studies, not something little like that.

Koha's POV

As I walked down a long hallway to see what the King wanted to talk about, Senza popped up in my head. I've known her since she was 2 years old, and still annoying as always. I sighed. Knocking in the door, I straightened my outfit.
"Come in."
I slide open the door, and there was the King, like usual.
"Sir, what did you want to talk about?"
There was a long silence.
".....you see.... I feel that I don't have much more time in this world, so-"
"Sir! You can't say something like that."
"I know, I know. But I want you... To protect Senza, with your life if I ever pass away before she gets married."
My eyes widened. But I smiled and bowed.
"As you wish, sir."
He chuckled.
"Thanks bud. Your dismissed."

Today was Senza's 15th birthday. As I wrapped Senza's gift in a soft piece of colorful cloth, I heard a knock on the my door.
"Yes? Who is it?"
"Daichi."
"Oh, come on in, Daichi, you didn't have to knock you know."
I turned around and saw Daichi shake his head.
"No, it would've been rude."
He's that type that's pretty frail without help. But he's got one heck of a strong heart.
"So you going tonight?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I."
"Well I'll see you there."
"Yup."
I slipped out of the room, seeking something to contain my excitement. Not noticing where I was going, I bumped into someone.
"Sorry."
I  immediately looked up.
"No, I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going."
He looked oddly familiar, but I couldn't figure out who.
"Well... See you around."
"S-sure..."
He walked off, leaving me baffled. Shrugging it off, I found myself in front of Senza's room.
"Senza?"
"Y-yeah?"
"I'm coming in."
As I slid open the door, I heard her frail voice say to not.
"W-wa-wait!"
But it was too late. I had already opened the door. Just as I was about to apologize and close the door, my eyes widened to see her crying.
"I-I told you....not to come in..."
"What's wrong?"
"N-nothing."
I glanced over at the side of her desk, to see a picture of her mother.
"Oh."

Senza's POV

It was finally time. I walked down the hallway, seeing many people.
"Happy Birthday, Princess!"
"Hey, don't ya want to marry my son?"
"Come over some time!"
I got so many unnecessary comments. Shaking my head, I wandered around the crowd to find myself in front of Esmerlyn.
She looked.... Upset?
"What's wrong?"
She didn't reply.
"Come on, you can tell me."
Still didn't get a reply.
"Can you just tell me already?! I'm trying to help."
She looked left, pouting. Clearly not going to tell me anything, I walked away. Kids are kids.
"OH SO I SEE HOW IT IS, SENZA. You're going to just leave me here?! Ok. Ok. I see how it is. Just...just go!"
Anger built up in me. Holding back, I answered cheerfully,
"I was trying to help you, but you didn't want to talk to me. So I will just go."
Turning and walking away, totally leaving her vulnerable. I heard snickers around the room. Snickering under my breath myself, I walked off.
Not before too long, I heard my father call my name.
"Senza?"
"Y-yes, Father?"
Smiling, he handed me a well-wrapped gift.
"Thank you so much!!"
Throwing him into a tight hug, I opened the gift excitedly. My eyes widened with what I saw. It was a necklace. But not just any. Before my Mother passed away, she wore this. And before she wore it, my grandmother wore it (you get the pattern). On the end of it, there was a small silver dragonfly. It was our family's symbol, meaning that we were free and able to fly anywhere. I held it tightly, and tears streamed down my cheek. Throwing my Father another hug, I slowly put it on. My Father smiled.
"You look just like your mother, Senza."
I had a twin brother named Rei, but my mother died giving birth to him. Lucky Rei survived. But not for long. He died when we were 7 from getting stabbed in the chest by a knife, some mysterious man who was an outsider. Since then, our security has tripled. I felt the tears pour down my face. That year we were really depressed. Trying to think of the positive, I smiled.
"Thank you so much, Father. You don't know how much this means to me."
