Ratchet and Clank: The Warrior's heart

Chapter 10

"Coming in!" My father called as he slipped into the abandoned apartment. He was carrying a brown bag and dropped in the floor as he crossed his arms. "Hope ya like fruit kid because that's what's for dinner tonight." He smield warmly as he pulled out a shiny red apple from the bag.

Apples are my favorite food in the galaxy. I've always loved the sweet taste of them and I even like the sour ones as well. Back when I was twelve years old I climbed up into a tree to get some apples for me and Ratchet but I accidentally jumped onto the wrong branch and knocked the apples down and of course they landed on Ratchet's head. Luckily the apples where slightly rotten so when why hit his head they turned to mush. I remember jumping down to make sure Ratchet was okay and that's when he whipped some of the apple mush on me.

I quickly took the red apple from Kaden. I was starving because the last meal I had was a few salted crackers and cheese but that was about three days ago. I sunk my sharp fangs into the flesh of apple as I took the first bite. The sweet juice of my favorite fruit filled my mouth. I slowly chewed the morsel of food making sure to savor it for as long as I could before I swallowed. "Thank you." I said while taking another large bite out of the apple.

"No problem kid." Kaden said while peeling the skin of an orange.

Ace was digging around in the bag until he pulled out an apple as well. The blue and orange squatole quickly ate his piece of red apple. Ace burped loudly when he finished. "That was yummy." His neon green eyes lit up with enthusiasm as he spoke.

I smirked slightly as I swallowed the second bite of apple. My crystal blue eyes looked over at the window and widened when I saw my reflection. My fur was dark gray and my stripes where jet black. I had a pair of tattered bird wings coming form my back and my eyes here red and demon like. Where my scar is was nothing but crimson red blood slowly dripping from the wound, and there was another deep cut on the side of my neck. My body was covered in many small cuts, but those two where the most alarming to me.

"Mindi? Are you okay?" Kaden aksed making me jump. I didn't reply, I just looked back at the window and calmed down when I saw I was back to normal. The monster that was looking at me was gone. I'm imaging things now, great.

"I'm fine dad." I nodded while staring at my normal reflection. "I just thought I saw something..." So first I dream about a black and green shadow monster, then I hear voices in my head, and now I'm seeing things. God, I am going crazy and that's enough proof to determine I'm turning into a but job lombax. Mindi Kaitlin Evris, the but job lombax.

Kaden quickly looked at the window and twitched his right ear slightly. "I don't see anything kid..." He trailed off while looking at something blankly. His eyes widened slightly as he ducked down. "GET DOWN!" He ordered.

I quickly got down on the ground worried about what was going to happen next. Ace looked at Kaden as he gave a nod. Ace then ran out the room and into another one that full of collapsing walls and broken support beams. It's a good thing he's small enough to go in there without breaking anything.
