9th grade:
"Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" I ask Hunter as we both swing back & forth through the air on the nearby park's swingset. The hot summer wind cools me down some as the breeze hits me, blowing my hair.
Hunter turns his head to look at me, pondering my question over. The wind looks great on him, while I'm sure my hair is a trainwreck. His long blonde hair is blown just the right way, making me want to run my fingers through it.
"No clue where I will be, but I hope I'll be on the road, making music." A small smile lights up all of his features as you can easily tell he's gone in daydream mode. "It would be beyond amazing. Can you imagine people singing along to songs I make?" He shakes his head, his smile dimming a little bit. "Doubt I'll make it that far, but I won't stop trying."
"You'll get there," I say encouragingly. "You're amazing already." Ignoring how I feel my cheeks heat up, I continue. "You can play pretty much any instrument, you're a great singer. It's just time, now." He smiles at me as his angelic blue eyes brighten, making my heartbeat race in my chest.
Breathe, gosh darn it! How embarrassing if I pass out in front of Hunter.
"Thanks, Lex. So, where do you see yourself in 10 years?" I blink, my dry lips tilting upwards as I ponder what to say.
No clue where I'll be, but I hope I'm by your side when you're on the road, making music.
Present Time:
Lexi's POV:
I sit off to the side of a concert as Hunter performs on stage in front of the hundreds of people, currently playing on his beautiful, well known piano. Looking down at my hand, my eyes trail the very faint, but still visible, scars that are leftover from the mirror incident last week. My other hand's fingers run across the slight indents of my flesh as I recall what happened. I don't know where those random hallucinations keep coming from, but they have to stop. Hunter didn't say anything, but I'm positive he was suspicious when he discovered I brought my fist to that glass.
The news is still fresh with everything going on, but there still is no word on about Bailey & Eric's cases. I'm convinced that Bailey's dad will get the 2 thugs out with no problem, while her mom will slip her out of trouble. Eric is sure to spend some time in prison though, right? No one can save him, right? Surely the system will understand that what he did was wrong, & his actions certainly proved him to be a little bit... off, in the head. Bailey, too. To want someone that bad can be dangerous, especially when you go through all that trouble to get them.
My eyes drift close as Hunter begins 'Rainy Season'. Sleep doesn't come easily to me anymore. The few times when it does come, I get heart shattering, realistic, nightmares. They literally feel so real that sometimes I wake up panting, while other times I don't get so lucky. Eric being in every single one, so sleep isn't exactly inviting anymore. Though he was one of the most attractive guys back home, after everything that has happened proves that looks aren't everything.
My head jolts up with a start as my eyes go back to the stage. Ok, I've only been out for a brief moment. My lips roll inward as I watch Hunt on stage, performing his heart out. He's so amazing.
I take my cell phone out of my pocket when I feel it vibrate, & I read the screen to see that Dillon is calling me. A small smile lights up my face as I remember when he told me that his dad & his girlfriend are planning on getting married. Answering, I hobble away from the music so I can hear better.
"Yo Dillon," I greet as I lean against the wall, still able to vaguely see & hear Hunter from this distance.
"You anywhere near a television?" He asks instantly, his voice sounding strained.
