Dillon's POV:
I let out a shaky breathe as I run a hand through my black, shaggy hair. Staring hard at the leather steering wheel that my free hand is gripping far too tightly, a million different scenarios play out in my head of how this could turn out. I really have no idea how Kristy will take it when I ask her to be my date to the wedding. I mean, after everything she's been through with Jason, is it too soon? I have no idea if she's ready to do anything with anyone after all that, & I don't want to ruin our friendship by taking it a step too far.
Ignoring the nervousness I finally get out of my car, slam the door shut behind me, & take slow steps towards her apartment door. I'm just going to gently put the idea in her head. That shouldn't do any harm, right?
I lift my already clenched fist & knock against the door, swallowing down all of the nerves.
Come on Dillon, you've been with so many girls, & you never had trouble getting with any of them.
Yeah, well that was in high school when I was just the player who never cared about anybody else. Things have certainly taken a turn in the opposite direction. & to think, it all started with the new neighbor of the building, Lexi. I feel myself smirk. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't even have met Kristy. Now here I am, head over heels for a girl I'm to scared to ask out on a wedding date.
Man up. Pretend this is high school.
It's far from it, though. Kristy's been through hell & back, so there is no way I can let her be hurt ever again. No more being a player. She deserves so much more than that, & I want to try to be better, for her. I can't stand the thought of her even being near another guy.
I look up to see the door opening, my mouth dropping when I see Kristy standing there, black streaks in her strawberry blonde hair. She has on a black leather jacket, over top of white crop shirt. Below are dark grey skinny jeans with black studded combat boots covering some of it.
To say she looked hot would be an understatement.
"Kristy?" I ask, unsure as I blink at the seemingly new girl that stands before me. Her boots make her a lot closer to my height, so I don't really have to look down.
"Hey Dillon," she smirks, crossing her arms over her chest as she leans into the door frame. I try to keep my eyes up as my cheeks begin to heat up. "Like what you see?" I blink as I feel my face heat up even more from being caught checking her out.
"I, uh," I cough awkwardly. "Get a, uh, haircut?" She laughs, sounding more like herself. I grin, trying to get my cool composure back. Just a girl, Dillon. Act cool.
"No, just some of it's dyed." She shrugs.
"You look really nice. How come the sudden change, though?" Her cocky demeanor quickly dissolves as she shrugs her shoulders.
"I need a fresh start somehow. I don't," she pauses, letting out a tired breath as she runs a hand through her hair. It looks so, so soft. Oh how I would love to get it messy. My lips forming a straight thin line, I shift my legs, hoping she doesn't notice anything odd about me right now. Oh my God this could be really embarrassing. "I don't know who I am anymore so why not?"
"I don't think it's you though. You aren't some badass biker chick." In a more quiet voice I add, "just badass." I think by the way her eyes widen she hears me, though. "You should just stick with being who you are."
"I uh," she studders out before coughing. "It's a cute look, though. I mean, have you seen these boots?" My lips curl up into a smile at her. She can wear that outfit & still look as innocent as anything.
