Dillon's POV:
"You are so whipped."
I narrow my eyes & glare at Josh with annoyance, fighting the urge to puff out my chest. Where did he get the nerve to claim such a thing?
"That's such bull," I snort, rolling my eyes at my future step brother. He returns the gesture as he sticks his hands in his jeans pockets.
"You took a girl dress shopping," he retorts, raising an eyebrow at me. "& you paid. & you didn't even get laid."
"She's going to be my date to the wedding, it's my job to get her a dress."
"No, it's your job to take the dress offff. It's up to her to get the dress."
"You're such a-" I cut myself off when I see Willis walk into the room. "Hey buddy," I smile instead.
"Hi Dillon," he grins back cheerfully, skipping over to my couch. Dad had work to do, & he got Josh to bring him on over to my place. Though Josh has been harassing me ever since I explained how I took Kristy to the store yesterday..
I raise an eyebrow when I feel my cell phone vibrate in my pocket, & dig it out just to find myself groaning loudly at a call.
High school was always a good time for me. Had my buds that I could hit up any time we wanted to go out & raise hell, but of course as we were young hormonal boys, it all leads up to one thing: girls. There were plenty of girls, but in my senior year, I met Alexis Peterson. She was popular, gorgeous, smart, & always went for what she wants. She wanted me. Now, as fore mentioned, I was a young hormonal boy. I never said no.
A few months ago, I replied to her text something a princess isn't told enough; no. She didn't take it well, but she did seem to take a hint. Til now.
Why did I say no? Alexis' long black curly do has nothing on short strawberry blonde shoulder length hair. Her slim figure isn't like the fragile yet strong petite frame. Her sun kissed skin doesn't have the freckles. Her blue intense eyes aren't the calming green gaze that can melt through me. Alexis isn't Kristy, & once you find a piece of Heaven, it's too hard to settle down for any old planet.
"Yeah," I greet, lifting my index finger to Josh as I head out to my room so I don't disturb anyone.
"Hey baby," a slow seductive voice purrs through the line. Yep, definitely Alexis.
"What do you want Alexis?" I get straight to the point, not wanting to drawl this any longer than it needs to take. Sitting down on the edge of my bed, I begin planning my denial in my head.
"Don't be like that. We've had a lot of fun together, & I was thinking I could use some fun about right now. I'm about to hit a pub up, if you want to meet up there."
"Sorry, I won't be able to make it tonight, I've already got plans."
"You sure these plans can't be changed?" She drawls out. "I mean, after all, how many times will I be able to get here from college? It is a whole hour away, & that's without any traffic. Already here in town anyway."
"Positive. Listen, I know we kinda had a past, but that's all there is to it. Just the past." She groans in what sounds to be frustration, obviously displeased at not being able to get her way. "I've gotta go now."
"Fine, then." We both hang up, & I let out a slow sigh of relief. That didn't go as bad as I thought it would.
"Hey," I greet when I walk back out into the living area. Josh is texting on his cell phone while Willis' eyes are glued to the power rangers on the television.
