I was breathing hard from all the running. I didn't dare to look behind just in case Hugo was still behind me. I thought I had lost him a couple of minutes behind. Suddenly I could hear laughter, loud voices, and music as I got closer and closer to civilization. I grinned as I reached society. Then I saw Hugo and Joe step into my line of vision. I skidded to a stop and hid in an empty gift shop so they only managed to get a glimpse of my red hair.
"Over there!" I heard Joe yell.
I covered my mouth with my hand, trying to muffle my fast breaths.
"I know you’re out here red head." I heard Joe say outside the gift shop. I could see him looking around for me. "Okay you win...for today. But I will find you red head, count on it. Come on Hugo, let’s go." snarled Joe.
Hugo and Joe looked around one more time as if waiting for me to come out. Pssh, as if I were that stupid. I quietly snorted to myself, trying not to make a sound. Realizing that I wouldn't come out they finally left. After what seemed hours, I finally felt safe enough to come out. I tentatively poked my head out just making sure they weren't hiding or something.
I laughed in relief, pushing some stray hairs behind my ear. Feeling relieved I began to look for my brother and friends while still keeping in mind Joe and Hugo.
"What are you doing over here?" asked a voice behind me. I recognized it immediately.
I whirled around and stared wide-eyed at Jace. His dark eyes were studying me.
“What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"Where's your brother?" he asked brushing aside my question.
"I got lost...following him" I said crossing my arms. Well I wasn’t technically lying. "Now are you going to tell me what you are doing here?"
"I'll just say I sort of work here," He said looking up at the sky.
"What do you mean sort of?" I said. He just shrugged his broad shoulders making thus white T-shirt rise up a bit so you could see the elastic band of his boxers. I just rolled my eyes and began to walk away from him.
