Screaming.

I heard screaming--loud, bone chilling screams that sent icy chills throughout your entire body. It sounded as if someone was being brutally murdered with some case of painful cause of death. I didn't know who it was or where it was coming from, but I heard screams.

Sitting up in the bed, I wrap the blankets tightly around me when I look to and fro my friends. They were still asleep. Surely they had to have heard the screams of desperation!

"Ann."
I shake her awake.
"Ann!"

Giving up, I run out of bed, but stop midway when I hear another scream. I'm not going crazy, or am I?

"Jenn, is that you?"
I hear a muffled voice behind me when I see Chelsea sit up in bed to turn the lamp on the dresser on.

"What is me?"
I ask quickly watching Chelsea's face turn instantly in confusion.

"Was that you making that noise?"
She continued to keep asking, but I only shook my head.

"You heard it too?"
My hands started to shake uncontrollably.
Chelsea's face turned ghostly white once she saw my fearful condition.

"What did you hear?"
She asked me slowly.

"Why are you guys talking?"
Maggie groaned as she sat up.
"It's late."

"Guys--"
Ann's voice hushed us just as we heard the most awful sound. Again. And again.

Screams.

"What is that?"
Chelsea huddles closer to Maggie when Ann pops out of bed to stand beside me.

"Do you know about this?"
Ann asked me quietly making sure no one else heard. After all, we did share the secret about the cabin.

"No."
I answered solemnly.
"I have absolutely no idea."
Before anyone can question me further, I speed past them to open our door.

"Jenn! Don't go!"
I heard voices, but I wasn't sure whom it was.
Opening the door a crack, I peek my head out the door to look around when I see other heads of other guests peeking out as well in utter curiosity and fright.

"Jenn?"
I feel a hand on my shoulder, but my body seems to ignore it when I walk out.

"Do you know what's going on?"
A woman asked me as I approached.

"No, I don't."
I answer honestly.
"Which room is it coming from?"

"Room 209."
The woman answers as she rubs her arms because of the obvious chills of fright.
"I was just asleep then all of a sudden, I started hearing screams. Do you know what it could be or who it could be?"

Room 209??

But I was just in that room minutes before! No one was in there, but me! Had somebody entered when I left? Was someone hiding? What if--what if they were there the entire time? What if they had even tried to hurt me? Or even kill me? Were they the people that shut the door last night? Or the ones that supposedly followed me in the stairwell?

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out."
I say with determination just as my friends emerge from the room holding tightly to one another except Ann who now stood beside me.
