I went back to my room. I was dripping in sweat so I hopped in the shower and then changed into a white blouse and jeans. I jumped onto my bed and started to read. Thirty minutes later there was a knocking on my door. "Come in." Jack opened up the door and walked over to me. I set down my book and looked up at Jack. He was holding something behind his back and he looked oddly nervous. I stood up and placed a hand on Jack's cheek. It was cold but that didn't matter. "What is it?" I asked. He put his hand on mine and then sighed.
"It's nothing." He held out a small basket. I let out a smile "Just that I wanted a picnic in the crow's nest."
We went up to the crow's nest and sat to eat lunch. Jack didn't eat of course but I was eating like there was no tomorrow. When I was done with the salad, the soup and the sandwiches he brought he just laughed. I sheepishly looked down and mumbled "I guess I was really hungry after sparing."
I looked up and Jack was on his back, tears streaming down his face. "Stop laughing!!!" My stomach growled really loud then and Jack laughed even harder.
"How are you... still hungry... after all... that?" He said through breaths. I started to laugh now.
"I don't know." I leaned over Jack and he was quiet, peacefully resting his eyes. His eyes shoot open and he lugged up and grabbed me. He tackled me and soon we were both laughing. I laid back and Jack placed his head on my stomach. We both sigh simultaneously. I started to rub my hand through his hair. It was soft and course. I started to talk "I remember a day that was just like this. It was when David was nice and kind. We went out to a park and had a picnic. Then when we were done eating David chased me around the whole park, me laughing the whole time." I felt something wet on my cheek. I reached up and felt tears. "I missed the old him but I now met you and now I am happy once again." Jack just sat there and I heard a faint snore. He must have fallen asleep. I yawned and my eyes slowly gave into sleep.
